Guidry

VERY unpopular opinion, and honestly I could be wrong, but there’s a part of me who feels nobody would’ve been successful here last year with the talent we had.

He should’ve been better, absolutely. But we were BAD on that side last year. Meesh Powell was by far the best player we had in the secondary, was he even invited to a training camp this year? Jaden Harris and Patterson are literally useless. Bain got hurt on the literal 3rd snap of the season and was never even remotely close to what we’ve seen this year.

Don’t get me wrong, I would vote for Corey Heatherman for president of the galaxy. He’s my **** hero and I am indebted to him forever. But looking back, we had pretty much *** on the roster on that side last year. Mesidor is the odd one, he’s WAY better this year. Is that just scheme?

Anyway, we got bigger fish to fry these days. Good for him getting a job at Memphis. I guess I don’t hate him as much as I probably should because IMO we really had nothing to work with last year, especially in the secondary. Not a single kid we had back there last year would’ve sniffed the field on this year’s team except OJ, obviously. Jaden Harris played basically every ******* snap, for Christ’s sake.
His weakness was motion and shifts. It was like TVD and zone coverage or Manny’s defense versus North Carolina’s counter run.

Once teams figured out his D it was over. He had nothing. We still got lit up in the bowl game even though we had weeks to prepare.

Heatherman is the opposite. You watch the game and you can see the game plan and that he studied the strengths and weaknesses throughout the week and he usually makes good halftime and mid drives.

Wish we could have him like Dabo had Venelables. Better hope JT is ready for the DC job.

I am semi-retired and coach middle school football now, by unathletic D could adjust to motion better than we could. It was amazing how bad we were at it.
I still repeat I’ve never seen anything like that.

Ever.

Anywhere.

Jaden Harris sometimes stepped or even ran in the wrong direction of plays.

It’s like if they were intentionally given the wrong keys to read.

D'Onofrio.

Nix.

Flake James

Hee-Hawley Strawley.

I cant even remember 80% of the war criminals at this point; I know I'm forgetting an OC or two.

I just know I dont ever want to go back to that era of incompetence.

*Seems like an okay bloke though, he could get time served at Nuremberg.

Josh Gattis' offense made me puke

Will always remember Guidry for a masterful called game vs Clemson. That was the moment I knew that Mario may actually be able to get us back to playing playoff caliber football.

There are certain aspects of a football game that can’t be controlled by coaching. If you don’t have talented players, even the most well coached teams will struggle. But there are certainly aspects that are 100% on the coaches. Being completely lost in the secondary on 75% of the plays is a coaching issue. Not being able to handle adjusting to simple pre snap motion is a coaching issue. Guys not being able to get lined up correctly is a coaching issue. Lance Guidry failed at the most basic fundamentals of coaching defense here.
