Guidry & This Defense are Awful

I wont completely throw Guidry away until we can get some better talent on D...lets remember, Kevin Steele was our DC and lasted one year..went to Bama the very next year and those defenses looked completely different then what he gave us. Talent matters. Our safety play will get a steroid shot next year when Stubbs comes and Patterson has a year under his belt. LB room is getting better talent too. Kiko just flat out disappears too much and its weird because I thought he played **** good last year. He has regressed.
I agree. i also think he had Saban telling him what to run and he had players who were familiar with that system so he was ahead of the game compared to what we had at Miami. Remember we had the wrestling tag team of DJ Freestyle and MC Personal Foul at safety when he was here

Barring some major changes the defense will cost us 3 games. Not shocking considering the concerns we had before the season.

Very undisciplined defense, guys are on skates constantly. It looks like we don’t have the talent needed to effectively run this 4-2-5. We barely have enough db talent to run a 4-3-4.

Need Patterson and younger guys in bye week to get reps and play more. This group just an accident waiting to happen. Lastly, linebackers play too close to line of scrimmage and just get washed far too often. This is the same team we have had last few years except Cam for TVD is the college version of Hershel Walker trade

The DLine is very good & will get better as Bain gets back into the swing of things. Barrow was huge in this game when it really mattered. Dawg.

Wes isn’t perfect (no-one is) but he’s progressed & his hit on that QB played a huge role in sealing the win cos they could not score after that hit.

Porter hasn’t been perfect this year but he made some really clutch plays in crunch time. Missing Damari Brown bigly.

Missed tackles plagued us again. Got to fix that.

Hoping Zaquan & some of the other young guys can really come on in the 2nd half of the season & elevate the talent level of the back seven. When people ask “Are We Back”, we ain’t even close yet to the days of Rolle, Buchanan, Reed, Taylor et al. It’s clear what we’re laser-focused on in recruiting this year.

Wish Washington wasn’t so new to the position because he will bring some much needed violence & athleticism to that position when he’s ready. Highly confident he would elevate the tackling.

Our current players in the back seven need to simply play sound fundamental football for four quarters (including tackling consistently to limit explosives). We need 2-3 of the talented youngins at LB & DB to step up down the stretch & elevate the talent level of the back seven. We could make some noise down the stretch if that happens.
