C Scanlon (JD Jones has been the better catcher but Gino goes with the "experienced" backstop

Yes. He started in the fall a couple times and was not very good. The latest is he remains the closer.

Gino said that was the main reason he came back. He could work on it here and move through the minors faster.

I can see an argument for making Chestnutt the primary midweek starter, and leaving Rafe in the bullpen. Crowther and Caba are injured leaving unproven Scinta and Walsh as the only healthy LHP besides Rafe on the roster. You are OTOH putting a lot of eggs in the Rosario has finally figured it out basket if you do this.

Not a unique one here but I swap Levenson and Farrow with the thought that we’re getting at least one on in the first frame, make them pitch to Levenson with runners on.

For the record it’d be my preference to see Jones as the day one backstop but I think Gino will go will Perez. Personally, I don’t think Scanlon adds a **** of a lot; esp. as a lefty bat in this iteration of the lineup. Looking forward to seeing the progression of Cyr and what Martin, Long and Garcia do in early non-conference opportunities.

Yes, Gino said he’s improving on a secondary breaking ball. It will help and is necessary if he’s going to get in the bigs.
