How Gino got recruited to Miami, how a player like him probably would’ve gotten amazing offers in the NIL era, talking about his pass to Horace Copeland over t-Buck, how good Dennis Erickson was, how playing under center and hard snap counts are a lost art at the college level, who the toughest hurricanes of all time are… it’s really an amazing interview. I met Gino at The Capital Grille next to Grand Central years back. I won $100 ftom a friend who thought I was talking out of my *** when I said thst’s Gino Torretta former Cane QB, Natl Champ & Heisman Trophy winner. Gino was happy to confirm his identity. Then we had a few drinks. Talked some shop. Great guy.

Gino also talked about the great home field advantage at the OB.

Gina said Daniel Stubbs told him on recruiting visit that you either are coming to miami to win and kick everyone's *** or you will play with someone else and get your *** kicked by us. That is awesome! Such confidence of those canes teams and rightfully so.

He mentioned taking a cold shower inside hotel in NYC due to ice storm waiting to get ready to go to heisman trophy presentation. He rode in limo with Johnny Unitas as he won Unitas award as top QB.

He said his top 5 baddasses at the U were Hendricks, Sapp, Kosar, Irvin, and he didnt really give a 5th, but he mentioned Sean Taylor, Stanley Shakespeare, and EJ as possibilities.

He said he first saw Cam Ward play live in spring practice and his arm reminded him of warren moon and he initially thought the NFL misevaluated him since he was so good. That goes to show you how bad our DC was and our defense was a whole to mess that up.

Gino was a real stand up guy. Great interview!

Still believe had he really been hired in 2010, Miami would’ve had at LEAST 2 nattys by now.
