Greg Schiano, Dan Mullen, Butch...

What Mullen's offense would have done, with Miami athletes, in the ACC Coastal would be almost unfair. He exploits mismatches and gets speed the ball in space. It's the exact opposite of what ENix is running. In terms of our schedule, I could see a good DC like a Bud Foster (non-issue now) or an athletic squad like an FSU (not the Taggart version, obviously) getting the better of him once in a while, but other than that, I can't think of 5 games he'd have lost here during the regular season if we'd hired him after Golden.

Great coaches Rarely lose to lesser talented teams
 
Hated all as options and I’m ok to admit I was wrong about Mullen. Little skeptical about why Taco started for them but still
 
All we need is consecutive 10 win seasons which would result in storm18-like classes for multiple years straight. That would set us up for a run
 
why beat yourself up or look back in regret or anger. Blake James/ Carol Strawely
would miss on Jimy Johnson, Urban Meyer, Nick Saban
guys, they are clueless hence Strawely blew the Mullen discussion and B.James really blew it on CMD as well
football staff and AD dept do have 1 thing in common they are the worst in D-1 athletics
 
Mullen really, really wanted the job here. Pursued the job vigorously. Wanted to be in South Florida and wanted to be a Cane. We said, "LOL, no thanks" and now Florida, our most hated rival, is winning games and beating us with what should be OUR coach.

Talk about reasons to go postal...

Miami level resources. It's amazing how so many "fans" rail against this guy yet we haven't been right since he and his work left. People claim to want those days back but hate on the guy who made said days possible.

That Was 20 years ago. I loved Butch but what he did was in a completely different era. The Butch fans are the people Miami fans get made fun of for. They don’t realize that the whole world has changed in the last 20 years. When Butch was here, Miami was 5 years post dynasty and kids like Ed Reed still went under the radar. We have internet and that doesn’t happen anymore. It’s 20 years later and Butch is a below average coach in a low tier conference. I mean UAB’s coach was able to win that conference three years after they shut down the football program. Why can he overcome those odds but Butch can’t win it? Lane Kiffin took over a worse team and is about to win that conference for the second time. Miami is washed and so is Butch. You might as well bring back Jimmy.

Wish we just had a coaching search after Richt. As an AD you never luck into a situation where you get off the hook of a coach that’s spiraling the program downward.... and James just blew it. We had all the money we needed and an opportunity to fix it all. Blew his load in 6 hours and I’ve never seen anything like it.

I'm 100% with you here. Manny sucking doesn't mean that butch or Schiano would have done better. And, despite what CIS thinks, there's nothing to say we'd have gotten a good coach with a better search. That doesn't mean I wouldn't have liked one, just that it might not have given us better.

I know it's unfashionable now, but I get the Manny hire. We were 1 year removed from a 10 win season which was almost completely due to our defense. So I don't think hiring the DC as a HC was that crazy. He was responsible for the excitement in Miami that year. And be honest. Didn't you think that we just needed a nudge on offense and we'd be fine?

That's the thing when you guys btch about Manny. You may not have loved the hire, but didn't you think we were a simple fix away from greatness? Didn't you think that anyone other than Richt would be able to see the simple changes we needed on offense? All he needed to do was hire an OC who would care more about success than running a particular system.

And that's still true. We just need a guy who cares about winning more than anything else in the world.
