Greatest plays that never were.

I haven't read the entire thread, so if this has been mentioned, I apologize.

2004, we're playing Va Tech in the last game of the season. We're 8-2 and ranked #9. VT is 9-2 and ranked #10. Winner wins the ACC and goes to the Sugar Bowl against undefeated Auburn. We were winning and had a chance to fully take control. We (Gore I think) broke off a long run that would have put us inside their 20. We were rolling and likely would have punched it in. We had a holding call and ended up not scoring and we lost.

Jeff THomas also dropping the TD in the third quarter or early fourth in the end zone
Cam Harris also had a big run down to the Gator 2 yard line in that game which got called back for holding. We punch it in and go up two scores if it doesn’t

2019 - Jeff Thomas whiffing on the punt return and turning the ball over to The Gates.
What about Baxa missing a shorty, the OL giving up 87.3 sacks, the offense capitalizing on two short fields after 2 Florida turnovers in the 4th, the defense learning how to tackle on the long td run first quarter, or not giving up a fake punt? Jeff Thomas was not the reason Miami lost the 2019 opener.

this is 100% the play. probably the most embarrassing play in football history. At least in the top 5

That play gutted me like fish on a monger's slab... similar to the CWS final homerun hit by LSU in the 9th inning ...

I was so crushed and depressed that I never looked at TV sports for 6 months after that.

It literally destroyed the aura of invincibility we felt growing up during the 80s Canes run.... we were supposed to humiliate teams, not the other way around...

(working from memory, which can be dangerous at my age)

If Frank Costa hits whoever the wide receiver was (can't remember) on that go route from like the 10 yard line, I believe the Canes win that game against Nebraska and win the national championship in 1994. ('95 Orange Bowl game)
Taj Johnson.

In a random acc game, I really wanted Kayne Farqueson (sp) to catch that TD pass from Marve vs unc.
