Great Win and we are 4-0--I love it, BUT Richt

Im still more concerned about Brad Kaaya's periodic disappearing act than I am the play calling.

As you should be.. I think he is average at best at running a pro style offense. We either need to learn how to run the ball out of the spread or just accept the fact that Kaaya is going to go MIA every single game.

CLUELESS!!!!!

This is true. Kaaya not being able to reliably throw the ball from under center limits this offense and makes us predictable. It's obvious that Richt wants to be running more power concepts but can't because our QB is clearly more comfortable out of the gun

I hesitate to say that's ALL on Kaaya. I have yet to see this Line prevent a big push from the DL so far. We dominated FAMU but that's it, everyone else has put pressure on him early. Agreed he needs to get comfortable FAST. But this Line leaves a lot to be desired in protection....

If Kaaya wants to be an NFL quarterback he needs to work on his feet. He's a great QB and I feel like I'm dogging him a bit too much because he's by far the best QB we've had in a while.... but all this "first round" talk comes with expectations.... and an NFL QB has to be able to operate from under center and an NFL QB has to be able to run the bootleg, throw on the move, and sometimes make throws under pressure.

I think jumping up 28-7 had something to do with the vanilla play calling. When we really needed a score, we opened it up and scored easily. Now, I hope and pray we go hurry up against FSU, and all game long.

I have realized that, even against App St, when we needed a score we easily went down the field. It seemed like that today as well,, Why do you want hurry up though?

More concerned about the defensive playcalling today than the offensive playcalling.

I half-expected it. I think Georgia Tech could be a thorn in Manny Diaz's side for as long as he's here, which I think will be many years. Any offense that forces you to play heady assignment football will give us trouble just due to how our guys are coached to be aggressive.

The Texas vs Kansas State game from a few years ago when K State ran for like 500 yards on Diaz's defense kind of showed how option football can give this defense some problems.

That said, our freshmen linebackers played OK and that's encouraging. Pickney especially stood out to me.

Hating *** posts from poster who has a join date of Sept 2016, hmm maybe he's not really a Cane fan and instead a troll. The trolls are always active on here but they come out in droves on game day especially after a W. Fun times.

Beat FSU and all the doubt and skepticism anyone has about this team will disappear.
No, it probably won't... You'll still have fans on here b*tching & nitpicking every single negative play they can find to justify their deep seeded inadequacy, that they project on our team by always hoping for the worse result possible, just so they can say they were right.

How long have you been a canes fan? I used to do the Don Bailey act just like you, back in the early 2000's. But after 15 years of getting our hopes up only to watch us lose, I don't do the whole blind optimism thing anymore.

Beat FSU and that's showing the world something. Because how long has it been?

Seriously, you can't complain about a portion of the fanbase being skeptical when we haven't won 10 games, haven't won the coastal, haven't won a bowl game and haven't beaten FSU either ever, in the past 15 years, or in the past 6 respectively.

But what we HAVE seen in those past 15 is the hype train come and go many times... and every time it lets us down. Need to see RESULTS - no more blind faith, no more promises, and no more stories. It is what it is.

Love the man, the team is well coached and tough, but coach called a bad game today. I know he's rusty with play-calling but we need him to improve. He was too conservative this game and I certainly didn't like rolling Kaaya out TWICE to the left.

But overall, I loved what I saw and a win is a win.

4-0!! And it's FSU week

Let's go Canes!
How did he call a bad game?

We only had the ball for 20 minutes you realize that right? We had 355 yards and scored at will when we needed to

It's hard to put up big numbers if your defense can't get off the field

This board is so crazy

Doesn't change the fact that we scored on 3 of 10 possessions.

We had a chance to go up 21 twice to start the third quarter and both times we go 3 and out of halftime. That's inexcusable and kills all momentum. Richt is struggling to find an effective balance of run and pass plays in drives and he needs to get that sorted out ASAP. If he has the same mindset as you and your excuses then we're ****ed next week.

It's not the number its the content. You have contributed a god **** thing but hate.

you guys are on to something.

You loved what you saw? Man... pump the brakes. This team has a LOT of work to do.

Go back and look at the Clemson vs Georgia Tech game from a week before for reference. That game was a physical beatdown.

This game - if GT didn't make some mental errors and fumble the ball away twice, we might be looking at a loss. We couldn't control the line of scrimmage and run the ball right at them. We couldn't set the edge and stop the run. We couldn't get them off the field and we needed lucky breaks to pull this one out.

Look, I'll take the win... and I'll take 4-0.... but I'm highly concerned about the FSU game coming up

This season is reminding me a lot of 2013 when we started out 4-0 and went all the way up to #9 in the polls, then FSU came to Miami and smacked us down and our whole season collapsed, and that was the beginning of the end for Al Golden.

We started off 7-0 and we travelled to FSU.

Alright thanks. Someone has a better memory than I do.

Still remarkably similar.

you're both right we started 4-0 and 7-0 in 2013.

Yards per play vs. GT:
Clemson- 5.4
Miami- 7.7

FSU has struggled terribly against the hurry up, and we have looked better when we've run it. It seems to me Kaaya struggles when the game is slowed down. Perhaps he's thinking too much? Perhaps the D has time to adjust? Whatever it is, I think he just looks like a different QB when he's going fast.

Clemson scored on 4 of 13 possessions.
Take away our last run-out-the-clock possession at the end, we were 3 of 9.

It won't disappear as long as fans from other teams post here under overly Cane names like Caney McCane and the Canes.

I think the execution was more of the issue.

However, I disagree with running a draw on 2nd and 36... the screen on 3rd down netted 16 yards.

The only goal on 2nd and 36 was to eat clock. We were not trying to score there. We were trying to get out of Atlanta.

Are there **** for brains in here whining about pass protection? Pass protection was a strong point today. GT has a decent pass rush, and the only time they gave us trouble is when we got into 3rd and long where Kaaya tends to hold the ball too long.

Rick needs to do a better job schooling Kaaya to get the ball out of his hand quicker on 3rd and long. You can't sit back there all day going through progressions on 3rd and 8 when the D is teeing off on the pass game.

So the guy who won 10 games per year in the SEC needs your advice on establishing offensive balance. Sounds about right.

GTs defense is underrated. Go look at Clemson's rushing stats, etc. also look at Watson's numbers compared to Kayaa. BUT be sure to take note of how many more attempts (and plays) they had vs us. That was the difference.

And they still only scored 26 pts. Their defense forced GT 3 and out so many fvckin times.

That's exactly what the thought process was after Njoku killed a good drive that was on the way to getting points and salting the game away.

Rick clearly reached the point halfway through the 4th where he was ready to play field position and challenge GT to beat us throwing the ball on long fields.

Your passive aggressive, sidehanded comment is adorable. Reminds me of something my sister would say.

This. Everyone on the planet knew that Georgia Tech wasn't scoring on their own - twice - in six minutes.

I would like to see more consistent play calling. To many times we are either all run or all pass.
