Great Program vs Elite

elite brand for how long? We have been asleep for a bit, we wake up get CPR then die again.

We do have a elite brand we just don't treat it that way. Or at least the UM administration doesn't when it comes to the Football program. They just let the football program die making cheap hire after cheap hire. Our fans have let the nation mock the program for not being able to pack Dolphin stadium since moving there (till recently). We still have a brand because people refer to us as "The U" even though we haven't been the U since 03?

People will try to say we're "has been" like Nebraska or Tennessee but the truth of the matter is the talent in SFL hasn't changed. The things that made Nebraska/Tennessee great were things that were only available in the 90s (For Nebraska - 100 Scholarships, Being one of the few teams on national TV, Rivalries vs Big 12 teams like Oklahoma, Having a legendary HC. Tennessee - Same with Nebraska expect they are in the hardest division in CFB ). The problem is it isn't as easy to get everyone because more then ever programs camp here and it makes things worse because we haven't had anything to sell in a long, LONG while.

The U is an elite brand but the school only uses this as a marketing gimmick, a logo.

Although 'The U' was not a brand in the 80s and 90s, the term brought up memories of the great teams and players from that era. Tough teams, and yes, arrogant and flamboyant teams. Thugs to some, heros to others. Fans either loved or hated the Miami Hurricanes.

Playing in a sacred stadium was part of that brand. Some of the greatest games in college and pro football were been played on those hallowed grounds, between those old stadium seats. Super Bowls. National Championships, and not only Miami's. Nothing lasts forever and decisions were made to move to another home. Unfortunately the fall of the program to mediocrity coincided with this move.

The same euphoric feelings evaded fans until the Dolphins and NFL ponied up $500M to renovate the stadium. Watching Miami destroy 3rd-ranked Notre Dame late last season woke up the echoes of past glory eras. That night, the stadium earned its moniker, The Rock,

Sadly, what could be 'The House that Richt Built' now has just another tenant.

We aren't even in the Top 25. I think you are confusing the rankings:

1. Elite
2. Great
3. Good
4. Average
5. Who cares

We are probably closer to 4 than we are 2. I think even 3 is a bit generous.

Miami: Slightly above average, middle tier ACC program.

Yep, going on 15 years.
