Great hurricane memories

Russell Maryland was a beast in that game.

Robert Bailey and Darrin Smith had great games too.
It was Shane Curry who was vastly underrated in the game....Would have been a Great one had he lived....An Absolute Goon from the get-go....one of CaneinOrlando's All time favorites....Didnt get the Publicity others recieved, but believe you me, was a complete Savage...

That team in that game was the personification of the word confidence. There was no doubt from the opening play how that game would end.
I've said it a Thousand times....that team would've gave 2001 all it could handle and more....Between that DL....and the Trio of LBers that were Great in Pass coverage, would've gave Dorsey Nightmares....If 2002 Ohio Sts DL...gave 2002 UMs OL pretty much a beating...what would Maryland...Curry...Medearis...Patrick..etc have done??....

Good point! Very deep, talented canes team in 1990. Tough loss against ND on road and upset in the thin air against BYU. Great canes team that year!

Amen. Always loved Maryland but watching again is reminder of what the f$$$ Miami DTs are supposed to look, move and play like. From flipping burger with not offers until Butch "The god of recruiting" saw a tape and offered our last ship that years. End result, Outland, AA, two NC rings, 1st pick in the nfl draft, 3 Super Bowl rings, oh I think he was in Iron Arrow just for kicks.

Also, Darrin had speed to kill and I forgot how fast Erickson got the **** back to pass the ball. Buy ran fast in the dropback, real fast. The penalties and celebration stuff made me forget exactly how frigging good that team was.

Great game. As much fun as I have ever had at a UM game.

I remember thinking during the game how great Mark Ceasar was going to be. **** shame what happened to him.

Amen. It was an amazing run of QBs from Kelly to Geno, especially considering it came under three different coaches with no continuity at all -- except Art. Bama had something similar under Bear with Starr, Joe Willie and Kenny but that was same legendary coach and half the QBs. OU is doing well now but not really winning anything. USC had couple nice stings and old Purdue back in Bob Griese time had some but can't think of anow coming close to six in row who won either one or more of NC, Heisman, or 1st round picks. I am fairly certain no coach or school had three at one time like Kelly, Kosar and Vinnie -- three 1st round picks, a Heisman and an NC. That alone should crown Howard as great QB maker in history. Against lesser comparables, Craig would be in running for GOAT.

Agree! Love your avatar too!

I remember a Texas reporter who commented after the game. He met our Canes prior to the game and after interviewing the Texas team he thought our team was so tiny that Texas would punish our team, his after the game comment we grew a ton overnight.

I was there....and Cold isn't the word....

Who the flock new that temps dipped into the 20's in Dallas???

Yes, Shane was an absolute beast. One of my favorite Canes too. Had a good career in the NFL with Indy too. The DL was so loaded for the Canes in the late 80/early 90s that guys like Shane didn't feature/get the pub despite being first or second round talents (which is insane).

He had no career in Indy really...only played in 9 games as a reserve before he was killed (Parking Lot Space dispute)...if I'm not mistaken, was at Georgia Tech before coming to UM...
