Got a bad feeling about this

Imagine choosing Manny Diaz over Lane Kiffin.

Lmao.

It's not Manny over Lane.

It's a fireable Manny with an ever dropping buyout who you can replace next year easily to give your new, alpha AD time to do a proper search with a year for us to show the CFB world that we are serious about devoting resources to the program...

vs.

A new five year $30M-$40M commitment to Lane Kiffin who you will be stuck with for at least three years.

It's not is Lane better than Manny (duh)?

It's "do we panic and roll the dice on a new high-risk coach" or "take our time and let the new AD do it the right way." If you think Lane is likely to be great here, then you go with him. But I can tell you factually that he is a non-starter for quite a few AD's. He's too high risk. On and off the field for some. Everyone here is like 10-2! 10-2! but if you dig deeper, which is where AD's earn their keep, there is certainly a bit of worry that he is fool's gold who inherited a solid roster with an NFL 1st round QB, none of which he recruited. He is also in last place in the current recruiting rankings in the SEC outside of Vanderbilt, who don't count. He's so great and 10-2 and his honeymoon class is mediocre at best so far. Process that.. That's an eyeopener for many. His interview about Oxford which was basically dripping with disdain for the community showed a lot of decision makers that he has not matured. That he's the same guy. That was a real strategic mistake on his part. Was dumb. As as smart, connected friend told me when we discussed him... "Lane likes to fish too much."

So apples to oranges. Because you are going to get stuck with a 4x commitment with Lane, and we could lose a few more years.

I am as anxious as anyone to move forward, and Manny is not the longterm solution, we all know this. But I also don't want us to cut off our noses to spite our faces. The USC AD kept their Manny for an extra year to evaluate the program fully, and work on finding a new coach without time pressure. He hit a 400 ft. grand slam that is going to repair a decade of damage.

Also,

Mario comin'

We bak.

I think we get Cristobal at the end of the day, but in my opinion it's pretty clear this was actually the plan given how Manny was retained until the final second. If this wasn't the case they most definitely would've fired him. This was probably a comprise for the pro-Manny crew.

If we don’t get Mario (we will) u bring back manny and restructure the deal. Plan and simple. Put him on a 1 year prove it deal. Save money. Y’all stop *****ing already tho. Mario is in the bag…if it doesn’t happen I’ll go ahead and self ban myself..what say u @Cribby

Jesus.

You're talking about buyouts, new contracts and Cristobal has a personal contract with Nike.

Dude finished coaching the Pac-12 title game less than 48 hours ago.

Let it play out.

The alpha AD who had no say in our non-existent search for Mario?

I've been chilling all day dude, I'm thrilled I have my coach and my canes are playing big boy ball again. I just hope people here have let go of their pearls and found their tampon string.

The vote was done and he was the AD. Then things went quiet and new names popped up. It was weird. That’s when I was staying away from this this whole thing. I knew there was bad leaks and bad info so I steered clear. The Nunez saga is when I started digging and got info from a few people I trust and they all matched up.
im not following this logic, the vote was done, he was our AD and then he wasnt. makes no sense honestly. Im sure there is a lot more to the story is why it doent make sense.

This process has legitimately been an embarrassment. What an unprofessional clown show.
