Good new Martell article

Thrilled with what Enos is doing with this group.

Really can't even begin to quantify how much of an improvement Enos is over Fredo Richt. It's literally night and day.

Fredo's experience was literally 1 year (2014) as a UGA quality control coach. I'm not sure if many of you know what the duties of a quality control coach are, especially at an SEC school with the budget of UGA, who has dozens of staffers. But this is basically an entry level position. You're pretty much a helper of a helper to a position coach. Then he spent 1 year in Buffalo as an "offensive assistant", when he probably did even less than he did at UGA. So 2 years of literally nothing. Then, boom, QB coach at The U. As a 25 year old with literally 2 years of coaching experience, none coaching specifically QBs. Good lord.

Dan Enos has been a coordinator, position coach, or head coach each year since 1994. Fredo was born in 1990.

2 years of coaching experience is more than his college playing experience

There is no way to compare Enos and his experience to Jon’s. Jon just did not have any to speak of, while Dan has been a position coach as well as Head Coach. That speaks volume to what the offense will look like under Enos versus Richt. We all will have shock the first couple of plays when we see motion and multiple routes being ran. Then that shock shall turn into elation!!!

Ehh - Jedd Fisch didn't play at all.

I am not saying that Richt Jr was qualified or that Fisch is as good as Enos, but you can be a good coach w/o playing much/at all.

I have no problem with Fredo's playing experience. There's myriad examples of good coaches who either didn't play, or didn't play at a high level. I couldn't care less about that.

What I care about is the quarterbacks at a school once known as Quarterback U were being coached by a 25 year old kid with zero experience. Fredo's resume should have earned him the job at Miami of Ohio. Maybe. But his last name gave him the job at the University of Miami.

The QBs will be MUCH better this season, no matter who wins the job. Not only are all 3 more talented than Rosier on their worst day, but they have a legit TEACHER at the position guiding them. I'm not even going into play-calling, scheme, etc. with respect to Enos as an OC. I'm talking strictly the knowledge and technique of the QBs with him as a QB coach. Under Enos, it's going to be comical how much better they are.

Jedd fisch had 14 yrs of coaching experience before he got to us. Experience and a track record is important. Plenty of good coaches have had minimal playing careers, but they DID get coaching experience

Agreed. I strongly believe the QB play this season is going to show up as other worldly when compared to Rosier and Perry last year. With its multiple sets and motion, Enos’ offense is going to bring out the best in the talent we have on offense. And make no bones about it, we have immense talent there, including at the QB spot. Dan is going to strip these QB’s down to their essence and build them back up as much better players. That alone would add to the excitement we should experience for 2019. Add in the elements of his offense, catered to the talent we have offensively, and you have a mix of abilities that will finally match the potential we all knew could be brought out of the team. I think we all are going to be pleasantly surprised.

We knew this but it makes it more egregious how you spelled it so thoroughly. Pure malpractice from papa and I hope the school has instituted some nepotism rule from now on.

Richt made some good moves and made some mistakes. Jon was a big one - he was unprepared for the task - and it wasn't fair to Jon, either.

Thankfully, Manny saw very clearly - the mistakes - and is determined to not make those again. He's a problem solver.

Our new crew will make some mistakes here and there - everybody does - but what Manny is doing can be called Precussor Engineering - eliminating weaknesses through high standards, true competition, and a damned play book that provides multiple looks with multiple options.

Good little article. I think we all like "The Little General" as I like to call him. In the end, it will all be about performance and wins and whichever QB can get it done will start. I like all our QB's and want all of them to succeed. I do think the LG needs to step it up a bit to keep up with Jarren, but I think he will and make a run at QB1. Get in there and fight and learn that offense for QB1 boys, it is all y'all's for the taking.
