Good for Manny

For all of the talk by this fanbase about the coaches over the past 25 years, while cape'ing for the PLAYERS at every turn...

We ended up having a lot of coaches that were hired up and had far better careers after Miami than most every player we've had here. Our previous HC/OC/DC, two are head coaches that went to ACCCG back to back, one winning the whole thing, the other making the playoffs a year ago, and the DC is now one of the highest paid coordinators in all of football.

Yet, we're over here crying every year.

Getting into the ACCCG behind an absurd tiebreaker, winning in overtime, and getting left out of the CFP in favor of James Madison is ... exactly what you get with Manny Diaz. It's just so perfect.

Possibly, although you have to remember it’s Manny’s second year at Duke. We had a similar record in Mario’s second year, but had we somehow found ourselves in the ACC title game and won it people could be selling it as a success and a sign of upwards metrics.
With their 63rd ranked HS recruiting class? Doubtful.

He did something Mario hasn't done.

Manny. Won the ACC. AT DUKE!

We could have - if we hadn't insisted on running up the middle over and over and over when defenders were three deep.

I'm still mad about that stupid, stubborn ****.
The culture here and a few other coaches who tried to harness talent but failed prevented us from winning the ACC. Because we sure had the recruiting classes and talent for a lot of years and couldn't do a darn thing with it. But good for Manny—he had a more reasonable team and a weird tiebreaker loophole.

I would have gone to Temple.

As a matter of principle, I'd already agreed a contract with them so I wouldn't break it within 24 hours.

As a matter of pride, I'd know I wasn't ready for the Miami job right now.

Diaz, however, manipulated a weak AD into offering him the job - costing the University $4m - and then absolutely bombed when in post.

So yes, I hate him. I have enough hate to go around for other parties too.
Fair enough

Manny needed more resources to field a team that knew how to tackle and didn’t play high/hungover?

I don't understand why some of y'all are mad at Manny. The Admin should have never hired him, plus he didn't even have the resources Mario has, and he's 7-5. 10-2>7-5 ACC champions or not, he got lucky and got in, but took advantage of it.
I like Manny, and wanted it to work out for him.

It's an unanswerable question as to what he would have done with the same resources. Under the old system (no NIL and limited transfers), as defensive coordinator his talent level eroded at linebacker and cornerback. He might have been able to rectify that through portal signings, or have been able to recruit better at a high school level. We got a bit of a preview of the former in the 2020 season when he pulled in King.

The committee has an ACC team already,, Notre ****,, ya know when it's convenient they have an affiliation with acc..
And the best part of that is the conference will make no money when ND gets in. That’s what happens when the ACC is run by morons.

All you can do is win your games. When you can't handle your own ****, teams like Duke win. So much cope is needed around here.

About the culture, wasn't it at one point pre Cristobal frowned upon internally within the team when a player would take it upon themselves to do extra training or extra film work?

I don’t know what it is, but y’all hatred for Manny Diaz seems to go beyond football, if Mario Cristobal beat either SMU or Louisville and none of these senseless stupid “hate
Manny, Hate the ACC, hate the committee” thread would matter

Miami loss two games in a three week period so they put their control of their destiny in the hands of others.

People want to hate Manny. Hard to blame a guy who took a gig we all would take.

He was in over his head at the time and it wasn’t a good fit but people blame him.

Any hate towards Manny should be redirected at the decision makers here at the time. Good for him.
Blame Richt for recommending Diaz for the job, blame Miami's AD for hiring him. I don't blame Manny one bit.

An 8-5 ACC Championship in Year 2 of Mario would have been celebrated

I mean it’s not a 4-3 PAC-12 title after a team withdrew, but it’s close to the same excellence

Lol the mfer our $80m dollar coach just replaced went to Duke and won this **** in his 2nd year with 1/10 the resources.

Mario can't even ****** get there after 4 years... Not even w. The #1 QB.

And tomorrow he will get shafted to boot for taking 9 weeks to figure out how to not be predictable on offense.

Love it for the Mario **** slobbers
Go root for Duke then brother

F Manny Diaz
F This Conference

I've said it once and I'll say it again: It's amazing how our "Fans" will jock any and everyone EXCEPT their own **** program. Manny Diaz ran this program into the ground, and then, when the writing was on the wall, tried to drag this University through the mud on the way out.
Yeah 8-5 conference champs and ****** on here doing tricks on it for Duke & Manny smh can’t wait for another hour to see if I’m done with college football this year.
