Gabriel, NFL's 1st Filipino American QB, dies at 83

Roman Gabriel, the first Filipino American quarterback in the NFL and the league MVP in 1969, died Saturday at 83.

Roman and HOF QB Sonny Jurgensen (half a dozen years head of Roman) both played at Wilmington (NC) New Hanover HS. Over the years, they occasionally appeared together at notable events in town. Both had great arms.

Sonny, former Redskins great, still hanging in there at 89.
