Golic is not exactly an Irish surname, so the constant potato jokes aimed at non-Irish decendents just don't insult those of us with Irish blood...Again, if you are going to do it, do it right...

Golic is not exactly an Irish surname, so the constant potato jokes aimed at non-Irish decendents just don't insult those of us with Irish blood...Again, if you are going to do it, do it right...

Golic is an Eastern European/Serbian/Bosnia area name. Potatoes and cabbage are a staple in that part of the world as well. That’s what I was going for, something typical of Europe east of Italy/Germany. Would you prefer I used a Serbian national dish that no one’s ever heard of? Don’t be so easily insulted. Potato eaters are some of my best friends.

When I was in Bosnia in '97, I thought the Serbian national dish was locally-produced 7.62 x 39mm, but I digress...

99% of the people forget who the “bad guys” were in that little party and why we were even there.

I had a girlfriend of Serbian descant descent for a short while once. True story. I had never even really heard of them other than hearing the expression Serbo-Croatian about people in that area of the world. Her father hated that expression because he didn’t want to ever be associated with Croatians. Hated them.
