They are about to get 4 (possibly 5 teams) into the 12-team CFP. Again, no matter how much "we" may feel they are overrated, know they are overrated, or even if they actually lose in the first round quickly and by large amounts, they will be getting at least a third of the entrants in the playoff. That is not a down year.
It’s called corruption, which is what @gogeta4 is trying to explain to you. It can’t be a “down year” in the polls because the system is rigged. But the $EC is weaker than it’s been in years.

Whether it's rigged or not, they are about to get possibly 5 teams in the CFP, last year they had 3 in the same rigged system. Yet, this would be a "down year" with 2 more teams in CFP? As I said before, it doesn't matter what we think about the $EC's true strength is, they have 3 teams at 11-1, the ACC has 0, they have 3 teams at 10-2, the ACC has 2. Well, the SEC is top heavy. Okay, so what?
