these contracts should be performance based..win and you get the full $..lose and your pay gets cut. Bet we would see a whole different product.

This is why I don't worry about a buyout. I am confident the buyout clause only requires UM to pay the difference between Golden's current salary and his future salary. I still think Golden is a capable CEO with bad coordinators and loyalty issues and will land another heading coaching gig fairly easily (unlike Shannon). Even at a smaller school, the difference we will have to pay will be minimal enough that we can go after someone good.

that could be a lot considering that nobody will wont him after this year. He might be coaching Highschool football somewhere in nj .

i thought nobody knew golden's exact contract. isn't that stuff pretty tight lipped when you work for a private school.
