Al Golden Is In Trouble In Miami

Numerous sources indicate Miami coach Al Golden could be in jeopardy. Hurricanes AD Blake James gave Golden a vote of last week, which is usually the kiss of death.

Greg Schiano and Butch Davis are the two names we hear the most, but it’s still early.

Schiano is unemployed after having been fired by the Tampa Bay Bucs after the 2013 season.

Before you rule out Davis due to the NCAA situation at UNC, remember he claims to have a letter from the governing body clearing him of any wrongdoing.

Of course Davis would be great, but how good would Schiano be as a coach? I haven't really followed him other than knowing that he was on Davis's staff at Miami as the DC I think.

Would be interested in hearing from anyone who's actually followed Schiano...

Schiano is garbage. Cristobal would be extremely underwhelming.

Butch is the best choice.

I don't think Chudzinski would be an awful hire either; former ties to UM, brings an offensive coaching dynamic to the table.

Unless the wheels fall off and we end up with a losing record, Golden will get one more year. He'll be forced to fire D'Onofrio and Coley and bring in some new blood, and if results don't come next year, he'll be done.

Golden will not fire Dorito. I don't think he will fire any of his staff members but that's more iffy. He definitely would never fire Dorito.

Schiano and Butch would both be great hires. I'd prefer Butch simply because Schiano gave us the cold shoulder a few years back to stay at Buttgers. Cristobal would be a mistake IMO.

The one thing we all give Golden credit for is his recruiting. Can you imagine how recruiting would take off with Schiano and Butch both being able to bring up the fact that they have previous NFL head coaching experience? As a recruit, that would fire me up a lot more than some Jersey jabroney telling me that he was a mediocre head coach at ******* Temple.
