Brissett is from Broward, not Orlando. If we had bothered to pay him any attention at all while Randy was here, he'd be a Cane IMO

Golden's been here about a year. He's had to salvage together a class from basically nothing last year and then keep a team together after it was rocked with scandal. How early do you expect him to be on these guys?

why does it seem like we've been late to the party for all the top recruits interested in us. obviously Al knows wat hes doing but he won't be able to get the big fish by just going after them hard at the end.

Not sure if serious

Those top recruits were not interested in us until the end because of the hard work of our staff. Amazing that we have been able to get them on campus, at least it gives us a chance.

First of all, I'm sure Al has been going after these kids the whole time. It's hard to appeal to elite kids right now with the accusations, Al has found a way to get top flight talent in here though. Secondly, have you had a positive post yet? You seem to be negative in every thread.

Some of it is after players come off the board we go after others. Also players like Tracy Howard had no interest in Miami until recently.

yah maybe deon and malcolm committing helped witht the florida kids but everyone else's posts seem to make it sound like we offered then stopped recruiting

It's really a matter of perception more than anything else. It just seems that the staff is late because the paid outlets covering Miami aren't as well connected to the new staff. Hence, the apparent confusion as to who the real targets and offers are and have been for the past year. I suspect that with time the pundits will have a better grasp with respect to the staff's priorities and tendencies.

What I don't like is how we slept on Goldman and Howard. We got outrecruited for both of these guys....Howard is the most inexcusable as his school is down the road from sunlife stadium. No way gayturd coaches should be on that campus more than our staff.

lulz on the OP. New to recruiting? Do you really think Golden got on the phone last week and was like, "hey guys, haven't spoken to you once but why don;t you come down to Miami and check it out"? There's a lot of stuff happening behind the scenes that we will never know about

we dont know that about Goldman. He visited early, was offered early, came to junior day, visited Miami and didn't choose us. It sure seems like he was recruited the whole way through the process.

Howard was as well but basically told our coaches, no thanks. At a certain point, with limited time and resources, you have to move on. He only came back because of his buddies. And it still isn't over yet. Under Blandy, we would have been chasing him until LOI day, with no other CBs committed.

I think hes been on them since he got here, they're just now talking about/ giving us a look

look at his head start on next years class, hes already after the top guys

because, according to the high school coaches there, no UM has been seen at Miami Central in years & high school coaches haven't seen UM coaches in the Orlando area in a looooong time-and he still almost pulled Brissett last year from around Orlando. Gold and Co aren't late for top recruits...Randy and co absolutly were freakin' clueless at this. Last year's class was put together in a few short weeks (remember when Gold took over...NO visits were set up)...this years' is great considering all the things working against UM right now. Gold and staff are creating relationships with HS coaches, having a JR. Day, traveling all over the place, using social media and the internet...all things previous staffs neglected to do. It'll take time man...but c'mon man, don't bag on Gold for being late. UM was late in getting a good coach who 'gets it.'

Recruiting is about relationships. The HS players committing to coaches have usually been in contact with coaches since their junior season. When Golden took over Randy hadnt even been in contact with local players in their senior seasons! Randy's lack of effort was affected in last years and this years class (not to mention the scandal). Golden has gone a great job with that and all signs suggest he will only do better in the near future..

i'm not bashing him cause i friggin love AG but i was just wondering why he was so late
