Golden on WQAM- 11/10/14

I dont know about you guys but i would rather get beat deep once or twice then let them dink and dunk us for 40 points.

Of course.

I'd also rather get dinked and dunked on two drives, than give up 8 bomb plays (see Michigan State on Sat. night).

There's nothing honorable about betting the house and losing it.

There's nothing honorable about going out on your shield.

There's nothing honorable about falling on your sword. This ain't freakin 47 Ronin. A loss is a loss is a loss and regardless of style, the folks around here will none too pleased with an L.

Should be a healthy mix of measured risks and managing down/distance. Execute a gameplan you deem most likely to yield a win.

Being reckless is what gives a QB like Jameis the window of opportunity he needs.

Im not saying to be reckless. Just eluding to Dnofrios mantra of having corners back so they cant get beat deep. Im saying I dont mind playing aggressive even if we get beat a few times because we would atleast make more plays (ints, sacks etc). If we play not to give up the deep pass then we winston will carve us up 10-15 yards at a time and dominate time of possession.

We're going to have to be on Jameis like stink on dookey - because our corners and safeties can't stay with receivers all day long. When he's contained, and under pressure, he throws a lot of stuff up for grabs.

Definitely. I remember when he was pressured by notre dame and he just threw a duck up there and it was intercepted. And have to capitalize every possession. Doesnt mean scoring every drive but converting 1st downs and keeping them off the field.

I am NOT that guy but WHY is coach counting the # of starts of fsu DL?
What's point?
No need to tell OUR guys how experienced their DL is.
Coach them up and fire em up.
Save that sht for postgame.

Normally said before somebody goes and decides to be that guy and sure enough...

Exactly, there needs to be a delicate balance and bring it when the situation calls for it. They only have one true wr in Greene, Rudolph is a good player but Jameis looks for Greene 80% of the time. Need to provide safety help over the top. If our offense was more consistent I would be more aggressive but it's not. The last thing we need is to get in a shootout. This doesn't mean line up off coverage and allow easy completions but we can't expect to play zero or single high and not expect them to score in the high 30's. I disagree with those that are calling for us to win a high scoring game. The higher the score to me favors them. The high 20's is more conducive to a Miami victory IMHO.

I also think we know what we have in our front four. Chick is a hustle guy. McCord is an opportunist. Doesn't do much 90% of the time but will flash the occasional play. The rest are just solid.

Exactly. Rivalry/big game week interview. Coach speak 101. No bulletin board material.

On defense - Need to prevent explosive plays and get after the quarterback. FSU line is excellent with 148 career starts. Need to get a great rush out of 4 and bring more at times.

Haven't done this all year, Winston will pick us apart if we continually blitz. Wish we had some legit pass rushers, we just don't

Well it's a way better idea than rushing three, settling into zone coverage and then letting Winston put a clinic on us. Watch the FSU games, give Winston time especially against zone coverage and he will merc you. Your only shot is bring pressure, mostly up the middle and make him get impatient and throw into coverage.

El Foldo better be playing possum with that "we can't give up any explosive plays" sissy ****. That's precisely the approach that has led to 4 years of misery.

Did you watch Louisville - FSU? They blitzed the crap out of Jameis and it worked the first half (if he wasn't point shaving). What happened the 2nd half? FSU had 5 TDs. How long were they? The shortest was 39 yards.

So while we want everyone to bring the house every down, you realize, this is exactly the offense that will make us regret it.

He needs to bring pressure at the right times, but playing single coverage and blitzing all day long isn't the answer.

FSU w/ 148 offensive line starts - well there you go, that'll be the excuse at some point. One of Phil Steele's "key" factors (along with sacks allowed, etc.) in ranking offensive lines. Odd to pick out that one statistic without noting what Miami's numbers are ( I figure about 107). This is a component of Steele's offensive line rankings - using it as a stand alone number doesn't really make much sense. For example if that component alone was used App State would have started the year #1. Just sayin'.

Neither is sitting back all day long and getting picked to pieces like vulture meat. Good coaches dial up well timed plays. Fool the rapist, walk players around, zone dogs, roll coverage. The whole playbook. Don't line up the same way all game and u been doing all season

To **** with all that passivity ****. Year four...time to walk the ******* walk AG. Walk it!!!!! Bring the heat ALL GAME!!!!!

Lets beat these *******!!!!!!!

0-4 vs FSU is ******* embarrassing and unacceptable. Also I dont want to hear any of you pussified mediocre ******* accepting a "close loss". **** that ****!!!

Where do you get 0-4? golden only played them 3 times.

Agreed. We should sit back in a passive bend-but-don't-break scheme and let them work the ball down the field in shorter, more time consuming chunks.

:fistbump:

An area exists between rushing 3 and playing a 3-deep zone with corners 10 yards off, and running 0 coverage with 8 rushers.

It's not one or the other.
