Golden Not Happy With Defensive Performance SIAP

This bolded part tells you all you need to know about Golden

While Golden said he was pleased with the play of certain individuals including defensive end Anthony Chickillo, safeties A.J. Highsmith and Deon Bush, linebacker Denzel Perryman and defensive back Tracy Howard among others, he says it's crucial Miami try to get back to some of the things they did earlier this season when they held three of their first four opponents to under 300 yards of offense, forced turnovers and had better pressure on quarterbacks.

What, like keep replaying those same 4 opponents?

Gotta love these people calling for Golden's head. The CEO is not going anywhere. Does he need to make some drastic changes? yes!! But do you think UM will now fire the one coach who stood through the whole NCAA fiasco and kept this team as focused as could be? **** no.
And realisticly ask yourself who would come here to coach UM if UM fired Golden. Schools nowadays throw millions of $$$ to facilities to entice recruits to choose their school. A small private school like UM can not compete in those levels.
Enjoy Golden and support the guy because he is the best UM will have for a looong time!

Obviously the defense stinks. Most realize the scheme stinks. But what I don't understand is what the **** happened vs Duke on run defense?

We quit. It was obvious. When you get manhandled like that by a poor running team, you packed it in.

Obviously the defense stinks. Most realize the scheme stinks. But what I don't understand is what the **** happened vs Duke on run defense? We have actually been fairly competent in run defense this year:

FAU: 43 carries 3.1 ypc
UF: 44 carries 2.8 ypc
SSU: 26 carries 5.1 ypc, they had a 75 yard run when we weren't lined up (another problem we seem to have that no one else in the country has)
USF: 33 carries 3.0 ypc
Tech: 62 carries 5.4 ypc
UNC: 36 carries 2.9 ypc
WF: 25 carries 2.4 ypc
FSU: 44 carries 4.4 ypc
VTech: 47 carries 3.9 ypc
Duke: 52 carries 6.9 ypc

You can make a very good case that our D quit vs Duke. Duke isn't even that good of a running team.

akjdfkladfjasdfkl. It even makes me more mad that he says Porter, Chick, Perryman played well. If 3/7ths of your front 7 is playing well you don't give up 350+ yards on the ground to Duke. And if they really did play well, maybe you should take a good hard look at the defense you are running.

Its late in the year and the defense is tired. You know why? The defensive philosophy. Remember yards don't matter....but in the end they do. Yards equal TOP and your defense being on the field for 35 to 40 min a game. The SURE sign that a defense is tired, missed tackles. Have you noticed how well we tackled earlier in the year versus now....

If you didn't understand how stupid and idiotic the statement "yards don't matter" was/is. Now you do.

Its funny Golden been saying stats dont matter but he talking about sacks and TFLs are up....lol. No Golden what u ned to win is to get back FAU, Sv St etc. Thats why those stats went up. We gave up a **** of alot of yards to UF too. Trying to trick us. These guys have never upset a team. That is frightening

I get so frustrated when people act like what our defense was in the beginning was proof that it was good. They completely miss/ ignore the fact that we played bad teams with no offense and Florida is the only one that had defense. Against Florida, all we had to do was be physical and stack the box to force them to pass and make driskell throw some ints. Add to that the fumbles that were pretty lucky we got them, because fumbles don't just happen all the time.

What happened to us was we started playing teams that were capable of passing. Since we now had to play the pass, stacking the box was not going to work. Unfortunately we suck in passing defense, so we get shredded there and since we can't stack the box, holes opened up for the run game as well.

Goldens own brother told me the team looked physcally beaten. Expect a new strength and conditioning team. I agree with him. Forget about scheme, our problems on D are more fundamental.

I don't follow, don't we want these things?

Those things don't just always happen. Especially against good teams, our opponents won't just regularly beat themselves. Defenses have to make them happen. I believe that's NVA's point.

How in the **** does a reporter not have the common sense to ask: "Coach, how do you believe you achieved those things earlier in the season versus what you're doing now?"

Lu, let me put it this way.

Whatever we did against UF, do that on defense. If you think forcing 5 TOs, getting pressure and holding them to 16 points is them beating themselves, I am fine with that.

Something happened that day because it isn't simply that UF sucks on offense because VT did too yet VT went APE SHlT.

Hard to argue that VT - UF comparison

Time of Possession of our opponents before Duke:
GT: 35:59
UNC: 30:59
WF: 32:24
FSU: 38:33
VT: 39:30

Between every LB not numbered 52 sucking balls and being exploited, we have not been on the plus side of Time of Possession throughout the core of our schedule.
Duke's TOP: 28:01. So I would probably agree with the tired and worn out explanation.

What happened to all of Corch Al's raving about UFluff and how the players were in great shape and killed UFluff? What about all the crazy strength gains they supposedly made in UFluff?

Yup, if only we could play FAU, Savannah State and USF every week.
