The Phrase, team x knows how to win, is often applied in basketball moreso than anywhere else. Most notably, we heard this ad naseum during the last 4 years of the Miami Heat.

A team such as the one we had in the first year of the big 3 era, started out 8-9 if I remember correctly. Everyone pointed to the fact that bringing together 3 super stars didn't mean you were guaranteed success. They needed to learn how to win together if there was any chance of success. Being battle tested and making big plays when you need them, the coach making the right calls in tough situations.

I think this idea can be applied to Al and his tenure in Miami. He needs to learn how to win when facing teams whom he cannot out athlete. Has the last 3 years and the first half of this season been where Al has learned how to win? I guess we will find out Saturday night.

Let's face it, up until kickoff against Maryland in 2011, Al was never faced with the expectation of defeating high quality opponents, thus,, he didn't need to learn how to win. As much praise as we all give him as a great CEO, he is/was getting his feet wet at a high level D1 program.

I hope he has turned the corner, and what we have seen the last 3 weeks, is Al finally understanding that the lesser teams are practice for the big games. And you don't take your foot off the pedal when you go up by a couple scores. You need to dominate these teams and install confidence in the young men.

Let the dogs eat and unleash them on the team from up north.

We'll see what happens. The one thing I keep thinking (playing off of your last line) is that we need to HIT these mofos. HARD. We can dance, or not. We can strut, or not. Whatever.

But there's one thing you can't fake out there...bringing it nasty. We've all seen the difference between a team that comes out to kill you, and a team that doesn't. It looks different. It feels different. And you can always tell that the other team knows when you're bringing the pain early and often. It changes things.

Every tackle should come with bad intentions. I know Denzel will do it because he can't help himself, but everyone needs to be in. From the jump.

Yes, he does so we'll see. This applies to the kids as well. Winning in big games takes experience because the talent is relatively equal. Even under Butch it took the win over FSU in 2000 to really turn the program and put them on the champion level. The win over UCLA in 1998 was nice because they were #2 at the time. What was really significant about that win was how poorly we played the week before in the Carrier Dome. We were playing for the outright conference title and lost 66-13. It had no impact for 1999. We blew the game against Penn State, blew a big lead against East Carolina the following week and they hadn't practiced, played a competitive game against FSU and lost again. We were playing for the conference title again in 1999 and were embarrassed in Blacksburg.

This game really is important in Golden's tenure. The team has to come out prepared, focused and competitive and needs to perform well.

We need to be aggressive and angry from the opening kick-off. No need to be tight and scared, let it rip and allow the players to bring this game home.
