Golden lost 27 of 71 players over 3 recruiting classes

quarterback evaluation and development has been atrocious...hopefully kaaya is the one to end that cycle but seriously...dewey and crow no longer play qb at the U, Al didn't bring in anyone in 2011 (granted it would've been tough to bring in a stud in the two months he had, but he could've at least brought in a decent player with plans to develop him), and olsen's future here doesn't seem to bright. LB has also been a disaster in this aspect...we could've really used skai moore and james burgess (i'll give Al a pass on Keith Brown, isn't his fault that brown wanted to play with his brother and for a black coach)

I don't know about the keith brown wanting to play for a black coach is true but looking back offering his brother a scholarship wouldn't have been stupid as we thought being that we wasted schollys on other kids from 2012 class who aren't with the program now. Yep burgess was a big loss to what are LB core could be, not offering moore before NSD was stupid especially when the staff thought(but probably knew bond, griffin and Lockley weren't making it in).

WOW talk about reaching..Fat Manny really dug deep for that article.
Like is often the case, there are usually a myriad of reasons why something ends up the way it does.
2011 - Golden hired in december and left to scramble to fill a class due to poor recruiting by previous coach. Reaches are made and talent and character evals missed. Guys like Finnie, Eddie Johnson, Ricardo Williams fit this bill. Grimble was a decent pick up and seemed to have gotten home sick.

2012 - NCAA Sanctions talks are in full swing. Again, the pool of quality of players diminishes due to a lot getting spoofed. Golden scrambles last minute to pull questionable guys like Blue in last minute.

2013 - Again NCAA sanctions talk still lingering. Still pretty good class is brought in and not much attrition has occurred from this class, yet.

2014 - Every player signed and in campus. What a difference it makes when NCAA sanctions are know and no longer a mystery to scare targeted recruits.

Only players that have departed that would have made this team better are Eddie Johnson, Grimble, Terry and Figs.
And sorry I'm not counting guys like Griffin and Bonds against Golden. WOuld have loved to have them on the team and would probably be difference makers but if they couldn't get in, blame the admin.. Not Golden.

How is it Golden's fault that Griffin and Bond never made it to campus?
How is it Golden's fault that guys like Thompson and

Please stop CaneAlmighty... "Sanctions Talks"? Really... No excuse for the large number of players leaving the program... He's not doing a good job evaluating these prospects... I'm not even giving him a pass for 2011... Majority of those guys like Ricardo Williams, Finnie and Grooms were already evaluated by the previous squad and was deemed not good enough to be at Miami, yet he decided to bring them on... You can't absolve the coaches for their decisions... They are messing up...

Plenty of 3 star south Florida kids that would have loved a Miami offer, playing for UL and other programs. Those are eval misses and not sanctions related. The sanctions may have hurt us in getting some top prospects, but unheralded kids that would have jumped at the chance to play for miami was not impacted by the NCAA thing. That's just another excuse to absolve golden of his incompetence.

It's Goldens job to identify those players. It's hindsight for us not for him. When Charlie strong was pillaging Florida for recruits, we thought nothing of it cause he was taking left overs that Miami didn't want aside from bridgewater and a couple others. Looking back you can see that strong has solid evaluation skills and picked up players that golden should have identified as well especially if he was struggling with top recruits because of the cloud. It's not hindsight, it's a skill that golden doesn't have.
