Golden has no one to blame but himself. If he simply had hired a defensive coordinator his troubles would be over. Coley has his faults but has never cost Golden a game.

It has always been the defense who cost UM games by giving up massive amount of yards. His loyalty is something I admire and will always respect Golden as a man. But you can't be a leader if you are afraid or can't make tough decisions. Randy fired his best friend Walton after one year of being a DC. Which helped Walton in the long run because he got a job in the NFL as a positions coach and is now a DC.

I respect his loyalty but it is the reason I dislike him. To think that a simple DC change and UM is a top 10 team again makes me sick to my stomach. I under stand loyalty but Golden what about your kids and family? I am sure if he had the chance D'Onfrio would have fired Golden to save his career and family. Not being able to make tough decisions means that he was never fit to be a coach

Dorito runs the defense Golden wants to run. It wouldn't matter if he hired a new Dcord, the defense would be the same.

Not true. There's alot of reasons why AG was not successful here. His stubbornness is one of them. He will not change his approach at all. He will always give a good team a chance to comeback and win a game by handcuffing the offence and demanding to run a clock-control offence. He never wants to put a team away! He ignores local talent until its too late to offer and then offers like its a given the will commit. He simply does not have that killer instinct in any facet of coaching that you need to be successful.

Top coaches have it! The are driven by the need to win and it literally kills them to lose. That attitude is infectious and a team feeds off the killer instinct a coach has. AG is a nice guy who's truly believes everything will take care of itself if you do things the 'right way'. Nobody who blindly follows an approach they created themselves (which has no history of being successful in the first place) should be considered the GOAT!!

AG's loyalty to D'Onofrio is just one reason he shouldn't be coaching at a top school. A HC is the CEO of the program. He has to make tough decisions that could hurt people he's grown fond of. Golden usually doesn't use his head, or facts, when making these types of decisions. Instead he creates hes own stats, or redirects blame. You can't teach people how to be accountable when you aren't holding yourself to that standard.

Coley is terrible losing fisch killed us

I disagree with you on James Coley. When you compare the defensive roster with the offensive roster it is night and day. Coley is working with bread crumbs when it comes to talented when compared to the defense.

Allen Hurns was a 3 star recruit who set records under Coley.
Phillips Dorsett was a 3 star recruit who had a huge season and became a first rounder.
Rashawn Scott a 3 star recruit who is having a big year and on pace to clips 1000 yards
Clive Walford a 3 star recruit who developed to be one of our best tightens
Herb Waters a 3 star recruit who is having a big year so far.
Trey Brady another 3 star who has stepped

On offense we don't have a lot of highly rated players but we seem to always get the most out of them and many over achieve. The defense is full of highly rated players but seem to under perform. Our entire starting defense is four and five star players except 2.

Burns 4 star
Howard 5 star
Corn 4 star
Bush 4 star
Harris 4 star
Hert Jr college
McCord 4 star
Kirby 4 star
Chad 5 star
Moten 4 star
Carter 4 star

Even our backups on defense are highly rated but none have over achieved

He's too conservative. He plays to not lose the game, which has always been my gripe. That said, fisch would have this offense at much more productive levels than coley does. We're 2nd to last in 3rd down conversions.

What team are you watching? Herb is having a big year? Golden, Dorito and Coley all need to be shown the door

A lot of revisionist history when it comes to Fisch. Not a big Coley fan but Fisch had his issues too. He was good at developing QBs but awful recruiting them. He also got blasted in every big game. Abandoned the run way too quickly. He set things up much better than coley does but he was no world beater as an OC. We have always been a bad third down and red zone team under Golden because our OL and QB play has never been good enough.

Did OP really just start a thread with golden could have been the goat coach???? And then not follow it up with......if all the other coaches in the history of sporting vanished?

Golden is the worst coach in UM history. He could have the greatest D coordinator of all time and still go 6-7. GTFOH

It's amazing just how dumb people are. This guy's been shytting in your face for 5 years, and you still think he's a great coach and a great guy. What a bunch of low IQ, low T dregs of society.

The one mistake OP is referring to in OP is that someone hired Folden. If that mistake wasn't made, then there is no doubt that he would be the GOAT coach.

Yes, having a different DC would solve every problem for Golden. Perhaps it would also solve every problem and concern in the world too. And perhaps even in the universe. Those DCs are to blame for everything in this crazy, mixed-up, unjust world......

Yes, a new DC....

Golden seems to be a nice person, he doesn't have the killer instinct needed to be a successful head coach at a top level school. Right now he's a yes man to the to the powers to be at the university.

These nincompoops think he's a good guy because he's white and has nice hair and speaks clearly. Ted Bundy was a good guy too.
