Golden calling into QAM Now

Lol its was O who said the fans are impatient that Golden and Dno have put players from Temple in the NFL, one of which had 11 sacks...says UM fans are too impatient and basically havent research Golden and Dno's history with what theyve accomplished. Said it just wasnt possible to get those 5 star guys b/c of the cloud.

Golden wasn't getting called out on defense at all. BigO was saying that the fans are expecting to much because they are used to having all time greats all over the field and we don't have those players anymore and that shouldn't be the expectation. Golden was saying he does have great players

This!!! Also, said we are getting there, and he expects big things this year.

Correct. Interviewer tried to give him an out that we don't have good players. Golden defended the ones who just left saying they stuck it out, were grinders and moved the program forward. Golden defended the ones that are here. Also said gave credit to the former players saying they were the best to ever play. Hall of Famers many of them.

Golden was making no excuses.

I only caught the very last of it but it should be up to listen to in a little bit

Having all-time greats all over the field is the expectation and Big O is an idiot if he thinks otherwise.

Guy is an excellent program manager. It's an organized operation now and the talent has improved. The product on the field has too, just not as fast as some would hope.

I'd love to see him with coordinators that were more experienced and position coaches that were just dogs on the recruiting trail. Coach d gotta be top 25 or bust this year. 50th isn't good just because it's better.

I like this new Al Golden, no excuses, fired up and ready to go

That's what I don't get. People always ripping him for giving excuses and BigO was trying to give him an excuse and Golden didn't want to take it. Not sure how that isn't a good thing or at least what you want to hear. Now saying that obviously all that matters is winning and proving it but at least he didn't take the easy way out and say yea we don't have those players we aren't going to be that good we have a Freshman QB he is going to struggle. Nothing along those lines came out of his mouth.

i texted oliver vernon to him just to see if he would respond. pretty cool they let listeners get involved ha

Big O acts like because he covers the draft he knows so much more than everyone else. he just say Olivier Veron didn't do anything when he was here. I recall him actually playing pretty well and wishing he would have played his last year here.

I've been saying this! At the end of last year when the questioned D'no about the defense Golden said it's his defense and it's all on him. The opposite of making excuses. When we lost to FSU and the media brought up injuries, Golden said no excuses we have to be better. I've never seen the excuse making. The whole cloud thing besides being a real hindrance is usually brought up by the media.

At this point the time for talking is over. We will see on Monday whether there has been improvement. Of course Louisville having a new coach makes a difference, but other than that, you couldn't have a better barometer than comparing the team's performance this week to the bowl game last year. We shall see how much a difference another year of experience, another year with coach D's system, better talent, and recouping from last year's injuries makes.

Golden, asked how he deals with criticism of his friend Mark D'Onofrio: "I don't classify it as 'my friend.' I look at it as a guy who ...

Golden asked if Kaaya has been a facilitator: “He’s been beyond that." Said he's "moved from a manager to an attacker."

Golden didn't exactly make any direct comparisons. Big O said we don't have anyone that can stand next to former greats on D. Golden deflected to say we have some guys that are getting there. Big O was looking for a direct comparison of our front 7 and some of the guys that went to the NFL from Golden's Temple teams. Golden would not compare. He did say DZP is fire but that's about it. Nothing to say abou the DBs or doine besides Chick is bigger and Olsen Pierre should play well this season. I wanted to hear him tell us how they compare to Wilkerson/Galette and so did Big O.

Big O gave none of our D players credit and kinda blamed them for the poor performance. I thought he was a bit unfair. I still feel like we got some players on that side of the ball.

"How hard is it to defend your friend, D'Onfrio"?
Al: He doesn't classify him as his friend. It takes time and they have to continue to make the climb back and have confidence in the players. They're improving....blah blah blah.

Deflected that one.

How is that a deflection?
