Allow me to write the script for how this recruiting will end up......

1) Kid proclaims UM was his "dream school", grew up with posters of Ray Lewis and Sapp in his room,
watched "TheU" or whatever that production was called, and so on.
2) Starts telling recruiting sites that he is very excited about visiting south Beach, err, UM.
3) On visit, tweets pictures of Orange and Green cookie cake, some views from his hotel, beach with
at least one picture of him throwing up the U.
4) Sunday morning comes, the recruit fanboys start pestering the UM sites, asking for any reports of
how his visit went...none of the sites report anything, claim that he is not picking up the phone calls.
Maybe one site does get to him, and he replies that he's tired and not ready to talk about his trip.
5) A few days later he reaffirms his commitment to LSU. Says it's home and always wanted to play
in front of his mom.

We have a recruiting vet in our hands

Has nothing to do with who is recruiting for us.

We've seen this story play out about 50 times over the years. The kid chooses LSU every single time. Only reason I'd say there's better than a 0.5% chance is because he goes to DEstrehan so he probably grew up idolizing Ed Reed.

We never had a staff like this it might end a lil different this time..

I mean Randy's first staff was pretty loaded with recruiters. You aren't going to beat LSU in the recruiting 5 stars game. You gotta win on the field and you gotta develop local talent. Miami was never the kinda school to go out and win major recruiting battles. We didn't start winning until we scrapped that and just combed South Florida for the best athletes and found homes for them.

Yes, yes, and yes!

The first few years under Coker, we were still getting top players from around the country - including a couple from Louisiana - Akieem Jolla, a top-ranked WR from New Orleans St. Augustine (same school as Christmas-Giles) and Vegas Franklin, a DE from East St. John....

We've got a couple of players from the state since, but they were lower-ranked and didn't do too much (Derron Thomas and the DT from a few years ago who did nothing)....

Other then perception what makes anybody think LSU wins? A longtime commit from Louisiana who openly has shown love to UM even when we had no Hc and now Richts here? If he was from any other state would anybody think he's sticking?

Because when it comes to recruiting, most UM fans have become so Goldenized to losing these type battles in the past it's very hard to be optimistic. With a new coach and staff here's to hoping that changes.

Cokerized, Shannonized, and Goldenized. Pure torture. Would be nice if this changes.

naw the so called story was they were giving his brother a ship also

Serious question: hypothetically, how does one make it know that he is willing to be a bag man? There is that famous article about SEC bagmen but how would one go about advertising these services? From the same article, it seems that a great deal of money is not needed to move the needle. Is it just hiring moms to a no show secretarial job? $100 handshakes? ****y bar trips?

Because they have shown a renewed commitment to football, so should we.

In the old days, the cheating was more direct.
Boosters and sometimes coaches did the deeds directly with the recruits and the relatives, coaches and friends
involved with the recruit's decision-making process.
I think it is more discreet now. One or two (at most) of the closest associates of recruit gets the hook up, and
it is not done directly.
It could be someone giving someone's mama a job or paying her bills, or perhaps setting up their pastor with
land for new church, or the recruit's HS coach getting some kind of perk or job, with the benefactor being
a fan or booster of school that is recruiting him.
It is much more discreet now.
This stuff is harder to do at UM because too many enemies in soFla who are looking to make a career out
of exposing UM.
Try to expose an SEC program while living in same state and see what happens to your family and you.

you don't make it known. you simply do what needs to be done and don't say ****. every team that is serious about football has them in bunches. the fact that we are spending so much money tells me we are back in the game as well.

Long shot. But we have to quit conceding all the top guys to programs like LSU and Bama if we want to rise to the top again. Our coaches better be stronger salesmen of UM than our beaten fans are.

Richt been recruiting against bama and the rest of sec forever, there isn't a coach on this staff without something to prove, Richt has surrounded himself with some aggressive guys, I think we'll see those aggressive results in recruiting and on the field.

It may sound like bs, but I think its the truth.
