Gimmicks

I`m not sure how the rest of you feel, but I say we drop ALL the gimmicks. No turnover chain and all the other crap until we learn to dominate again. Not a good look for a 6-6 team.
**** yes we look incredibly stupid and everyone else Laughs at us in the process..... cannot get back to being a top notch team till we have a lot of changes Blake, Carol and CMD

No way. Then we wouldn't get gems like this.

And, it's disingenuous to compare this year's team's sideline demeanor to that of 80s, 90s and early 00s teams...Those older Canes teams were almost always challenging for national titles....Any slip up could end those national title hopes....So, yeah, they were much more intense than this year's team that was basically playing for not much....

Beyond that, you're talking about not just a different breed of player—but human being, as well.

This is a completely different landscape and kids today are growing up in a social media world, as well as that whole entitled, look-at-me, individualistic, participation trophy energy.

Two decades ago you had kids wanting to come to Miami to be part of a rebuild—taking pride in being that class that laid the foundation, while giving up opportunities to go play elsewhere as a front runner.

Fact is, not a lot of those kids exist today—and most are not just risk-averse—they also look to avoid adversity (as you're not gonna have a lot of setbacks in Athens, Columbus, Clemson or Tuscaloosa).

Those older Canes team were a different beast. Even the early 2000s era Canes weren't wired the same as the 1980s and early 1990s guys—forget what this thing looks like entering 2020, after this UM program has been irrelevant.

Seriously—the kids who just signed today weren't even alive (or were just born) when Miami won it's last national championship. Forget the 80s and 90s—these kids don't even know the 00s.

we have a top 20 class after going 6-6 and losing to GT, VT, Duke and FIU. I am happy enough. can we get better, of course? winning on the field would have landed a few more top recruits..

Not before Banda and Patke are gone. These kids think they cool people but don't trust in their coaching ability.

It's fvicking embarrassing. The rah rah dance offs gotta go ASAP
Im fine with the originam to chain but nothing else. No td rings and ****. We were busting fsu balls all last year for the dance off **** and now are players do it while we are losing to **** teams.

Those TD rings might have been the STUPIDEST idea in the history of stupid.it was bad enough to have kids running for the TO Chain when down by 20 but to have kids racing for the sidelines to put these idiot looking rings on because they scored a TD against some teams backups because they were in cause we were getting drubbed was waaaaay more idiotic.
Then the fcking dancing. We need a fcking sniper picking off any kid that starts that towel waving jumping up and down dancing **** while getting waxed by another D-2 school.

it’s time to get rid of all this peripheral BS and get back to kicking teams asses not owing about wearing some stupid looking jewelry while getting your *** beat.

No wait, what about the First Down Shuffle? The defense can do a choreographed dance move for each first down. A special one for a converted THIRD down!

Or the offense can dance when the punting team comes out!

Now what about an interception challice? And the guy drinks gatorade from it while sporting the TO chain?

What about a golden helmet?

As long as your winning the chain looks cool. If you go 6-6 it's a laughing stock. I think it's run it's course here. Let's move on, focus on dominating teams then when that culture is established maybe being in something similar.

Agree.

I just want to be a relevant program again. College football is a better place when we are there to terrorize everyone. Been a long while.

Not sure that the Turnover Chain should have ever been more than a 1 year trick pony....That being said, if it makes the players more enthusiastic....Not really for me, as a fan, to say what works for the actual players.....

As for the dancing and jumping around on the sidelines....What's the alternative....If the players were moping on the sidelines....Would that somehow be better....?

I got slammed for saying it should go away after year one. I had a bad feeling we'd end up looking like clowns.

I have a solution for the dancing. Ban that girly stuff and go to dance fighting. It would at least be entertaining when the other team is up 20.
