I'm a huge fan of learning the history behind my sports teams etc.

It was started by Bear Bryant and brought to Miami by Howard Schnellenberger who was an Assistant Coach for Bear Bryant in 61'

Fair enough. I was born in 82, so i never witnessed those Bama teams. When you watch the 87 FSU game, they made it seem like it was never seen before.

What's priceless is knowing that some Domers are actually going to wear that ish into the stadium parking lot thinking they're cool and they're either going to get beat down, have the chain snatched, or be ridiculed by throngs of people to the point where they'll wish they never wore it. I seriously hope they wear that to the game, the more the better.

It's a sad fact that it was originated under Bryant at Bama.

It's a happy fact that Schnellenberger brought it to Miami, and Miami made it famous. Not too long after Miami made it cool, everybody jumped on the bandwagon.

Bear Bryant may have done the four fingers first. But Alabama never - ever - used it.

UM starts using it - and because UM was on TV all the time even when there were only three networks - everyone saw UM doing it - and because UM was cool - that too was copied by others.

The smoke. UM is the most copied college football team ever.

The 4-3 defense was known as the Miami 4-3.

UM made the single back offense popular.

UM made personal foul penalties - a joke. How, exactly, do you have a 3rd and 43 - and then MAKE it?

UM is also responsible for more NCAA college football rules than any other team in America.
