This is a square peg being stuck in a round hole. King clearly can’t run it and doesn’t want to run it. The play gets blown up a majority of the time. Put in some tosses, sweeps, stretch plays, but please anything other then this play. And Gacia and VD don’t seem like the players to run that play either. Time to scrap it Lashlee. We don’t have Marshall running around back there.

Some of those runs that people think he is reading, its called play to handoff, it just looks like a read but its a called iz run.. They will call same plays with those guys because its just a handoff out of shotgun

Agreed. Sometimes there is no intent to read. But that play just doesn’t work. We can’t block for it for some reason. Get the running back in space and let him work.

I have been saying this in other threads all day!!!

I know that Lash has some tosses, sweeps, and stretch plays in his ****nal...........but I have not seen that part of our game, in normal pace or hurry up.
I thought Lash would mix things up, and also lessen the need for King to keep scrambling to move the chains.
Every scramble opens up the chance for him to get hit where it hurts and make a shambles of this team for the rest of the year.

King needs help back there, and as of now, Lashlee has not been helping in the plays that have been called.

One more thing.....many posters says that Lashlee makes calls............. and the players are not running the play or cutting plays off and not completing routes.
Pockets, tosses, and sweeps are basic plays that beat straight hand off runs up the middle into a brick wall.............and that is what I have seen in our first two games.

Give our RB's a chance to do something that is not showing up on tape........... and that the opponents have been looking for and adjusting while shutting us down for minimal gains. That is what is happening now.

We HAVE to do something different on O in order to put up points and vary our plays.
We CANNOT depend on ST's to keep us in a game, and our red zone conversions to points must be more aggressive.( no conversion on 4 th from the 1 foot line????????)...and **** this rotation is driving me nuts.......play as if we mean to win, and keep our key players in.....****........Coaches we need to look like we know what the **** we are doing..

It’s not just the zone read that King can’t handle, he blew multiple RPO decisions against App State. There was one play that was an RPO/ bubble call. App showed man and then bailed on the snap. Unblocked OLB crashes the running back leaving Harley running a bubble with no defender within 10 yards of him. King hands to Chaney who immediately gets smashed by the unblocked OLB for -2 yards.

It's just too slow to develop. By the time Cam has the ball there's a defender filling the gap, he starts chopping his feet and it's a 3 yard loss. One of the big knocks on Enos was that his plays took forever to develop and put our O line in bad situations. Well...

I hate when he keeps it and our RB runs free while he gets destroyed. I'm screaming at the tv give it to fuqin Chaney no one was there. DE on App State broke containment off the edge alot and they didn't give the RB the ball. Then when the De plays it perfect they give the RB the ball. I'm like wtf

Its like the **** doesnt get that this oline has always sucked and always will.

I went back and watched some Lashlee era SMU highlights and yea, strangely the playbook has shrunk dramatically. He ran plenty of IZ then but his QB also made better, quicker decisions. King is capable, it just isn't clicking right now.

Smu playbook is baskin robins.
He comes down here and is serving plain Greek yogurt

I note that our freshmen are playing their hearts out and making things happen.

They're out to win - just came from winning programs and don't know any better.

Haven't been Manny-ized yet.

Put in Garcia, and give him a couple seconds to throw the damned ball - since he can actually SEE over the linemen - and use the middle of the field - something we haven't used since WWI.

I think part of it is he feels everything stems from being able to have some success with the iz and he feels he can't get everything else going until it's established and when we can't establish it oh well..

King is terrible at the read in general, really ***** himself when the DE does mesh charge (runs right at both 100MPH).

Rhett likes the slip to the H off of a split zone look but not enough actual split zone. Prob avoids SZ bc Mallory is a soft little choad (much weaker than a ******).

Arroyo has at least been listening to Uncle Jebediah Roscoe and will BLOCK SOME BODEE put his *** in. Sit Mallory until he's willing to be physical. Miami has proven anyone can drop wide open passes or fall down after a 2y gain. Why not try the new guy?
