Once upon a time, a University with a real power pedigree struggled to find the right coach. In semi-desperation it turn to a guy who quickly proved he was in waaaay over his head. Still, the school (while being generally reprehensible, hypocritical, sanctimonious, and without any redeeming value in my world) remained patient. Finally it was to be the year. It started OK, then the wheels came off against LSU. The Coach then resigned, effective end of season. His final game was a loss to Miami, in the Orange Bowl, 58-7 (a highly gratifying win to me, a good ol' "Cane-Stomping"). The school readjusted its then priorities and sought a coach (the eventual choice was even more annoying that the school) to bring it back to relevance. And, it seemed, gave him quite a bit of leeway in terms of players brought in because it understood that the football program was the hood ornament of the institution. Our current administration needs to learn from this.
We just got Clem-stomped. Our Coach has to go, honorably or other. And we need to find a killer and give him that tools to succeed.
