Tears Georgia Puppy Dog tears

Not taking anything away from Liberty City El / Memnon. But it was more than just him. Several/many of us posted that the bag game corruption was sustaining the old SEC (pre-UTx and TAMU). That plus Miami's ineffectual administration and poor recruiting/coaching prevented our resurgence. All of which have been addressed.
i remember me n u being killed for sayin nil will make us competitive...good times

Bama and Clemson are the real losers in the NIL battle. They don't have the media markets or billionaire boosters to keep up. It was inevitable that they would fail once capitalism took over and the Good Ole Boys club couldn't illegally corner the market.

I would have thought Georgia with Atlanta and a decent number of ultra-wealthy "friends of the program" could have held par. But they haven't adapted, and in this era it's adapt or die.
UGA definitely has the alumni base, but they are millionaires, not billionaires. Georgia Tech has the wealthier alumni base but they are more like an Ivy in their lack of interest for sports.
The guy who owns the building I work out of is a GT alum. Probably the richest guy I’ve ever known. He’s complained multiple times that the real money just doesn’t care. If that alumni base just flipped one day and started caring GT could run football in the south.

GT alumni designed, built and they run Atlanta. Literally. And they love GT sports, but they live in a fairy tale world.

That would be Georgia problem if they did. Don’t think that would hurt us to much

I’ll admit I never realized how much money this was going to take. Mario coming from two of the best run operations in football in Nick Saban’s Bama and Phil Knight’s Oregon knew. He’s consistently been ahead of this as has our NIL leadership. It’s super impressive.

Fortunately we get the benefit of being in FL without being a “southern” team. GT being good would hurt Tennessee, UGA, Clemson, etc.

It would affect us, am sure they would attract players from Florida that we would want. Their alumni are full of nerd minded people. No worries with that. But as you say, the SEC schools would be majorly impacted, Bama, Auburn, Tennesee, Clemson, SC. They are all within distance. But GT is in the middle of ATL, alot of players would love to have them as a serious football option as well as all the other things that come with the city. They could leverage proximity to the music scene for alot of the aspiring rappers and producers for example.

I was one of those that did not believe it would level the field. Still unbelievable to me, also I feel like if Manny was HC it wouldn’t have helped us. Maybe I am wrong on that one to though. NIL with Mario is crazy elite

Every Power 4 school has money. It comes down to who wants to use it and for what? Football isn't important to everyone.
I would say that football is more important to Bama than any other P4 school. They will always have money to spend. Just not enough money to secure 20 top 100 players every recruiting cycle. They will have to pick and choose who to spend money on and then have to evaluate and develop other, cheaper players. The days of just signing nothing but 5 stars and letting them sort it out in practice are over.

I distinctly remember certain posters being vehemently against NIL because they thought that Bama and UGA would just outspend everyone. Not realizing that the alumni bases of these southern universities aren’t exactly loaded with billionaires.

Thankfully the schools with the most billionaires don’t care about sports because if they did, Harvard, Princeton, Yale and Stanford would run college football and basketball and anything else they want to run.

GT also has an excellent business school. People think of them as just an engineering school, but both their undergraduate and MBA programs are excellent. Top alumni.

Maybe. I’m not convinced selling ATL would work as much as it against Miami compared to Athens, Knoxville, etc. Atlanta’s a good city but comparing it to Miami it’s not as “cool”.

For young black kids who are coming into NIL money, I disagree. Atlanta is black Mecca and hugely entrepreneurial.

Alot of young black people rather live in Atlanta than Miami for a multitude of reasons, some i mentioned. If they havea legit power house team it would come to bear, no doubt in my mind. Especially for players for north Florida.

I think Bama still has money.
There's a difference between local rich guys willing to give money under the table and in fast food takeout bags kind of money, and true legitimate deep pocket national level money that never would have been involved in shady illegal money transfers. NIL has shifted the power balance to a degree because of that.

These Georgia fans out here claiming they didn't buy players and Kirby is this great player developer that turns 3* into 5*....

These idiots really don't remember all those 5* players they used to get every cycle?
They will...... soon enough. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

We would not be as succesfull

There's still a group of Cane fans on X who swear Manny would do just as well as Mario if he had the resources like Mario

TrumpyCane asks them a simple question

"Why didn't Manny get the resources like Mario did"
