ā€œGeorgia might not have Miami, Oregon, Texas, Texas A&M kind of NIL money backed up by shoe companies or oil reserves.ā€

Cracking Up Lol GIF
That is one of the more ridiculous things that I have ever read. Period.

Poor, downtrodden Georgia. Underfunded. Under resourced. Having scrapped by with recruiting acumen and sheer will. Not a hint…even a hint….of impropriety. Georgia just wanted it more, and so they won.

Now comes a Miami backed by all of that money coming from the oil barons and their rigs in the Keys and Biscayne Bay. The Jock Ewing types who ride around Miami like they own everything, because in fact they do with that sweet crude being pumped just offshore of the Miami Seaquarium. It must make Kirby Smart…well smart…and wince…when he does visits for recruiting in South Florida. He looks out at the ocean off Deerfield Beach and sees the hundreds of oil rigs, and the tankers ready to send that liquid gold…that Florida Tea to eager recipients around the world. He knows that he has no chance…that Miami is offering nine figures to recruits just to take visits, and that NIL payroll is in the billions.

But Georgia will still be Georgia…they’ll fight on and try to recruit…the right way.

I was sitting in a Mcdonalds when I read the article and I couldn’t help but to laugh out loud. Is it our oil money? Perhaps. Or maybe it is the shoe money? Little did we know that the creator of the Payless Shoes XJ900 ProWings is a Miami alumnus and has been secretly bankrolling Miami with his billions.

Cristobal may be swimming in a bank vault of gold doubloons like Scrooge McDuck, but Kirby Smart is above that. He doesn’t stoop so low as to use ā€œmoneyā€ to get players. Georgia only recruits players that want to play at UGA for free. As a matter of fact, that’s actually where the bulk of UGAs NIL money comes from- UGA players love their program so much that they have full time jobs when they aren’t in school and donate their entire paychecks back to the football program.

That’s f/cking real rich coming from the king of bag $chool$. F/cking sore a$$ b/tch loser ..

I’d love to hear someone ask the obvious follow up question: Coach, were you just as concerned about fairness and other sports and teams surviving during all those years when Georgia and other SEC schools were paying players on the side, giving out free vehicles, and relocating families to new houses and jobs?

Kirby is soooo right.

I mean, the NFL would NEVER allow a 2025 drafted rookie to make any more money than a veteran drafted in 2022 who is still on his rookie contract. Right? RIGHT? I mean, the salaries don't go up year-over-year, do they?

And why is it some 18 year old's problem as to what Georgia pays their seniors? An incredibly talented incoming freshman has to take some sort of "UGa Discount" because Kirby Smart doesn't want to pay his seniors ****?

What a bunch of "I'll determine what I want to pay everyone" load of horse**** Kirby is spewing.

Then Georgia should have led the way in exposing and eliminating enhanced recruiting prior to 2021. It was rampant, protected bag usage and absurd overspending on athletic facilities that transformed college athletics in the 2000s.

That was the problem pre 2010, and led to the rookie salary cap. Ditto with the NBA. Glenn Robinson came into the league out earning Pippen, Jordan, Hakeem, and Barkley.

If the CFB players unionize we can get the CBA that puts a freshman salary cap in place.

Not until then.

All of those are fair points.

But that's what happens with growth. That's what happens with success. It is possible for even a rookie salary cap to increase so much over a 4-year span that the rookies are making more than the veterans.

Whose fault is that?

Nothing stops Georgia from paying their seniors more. And, ****, the NIL system has only been around for a short time. If the seniors are THAT mad that things are changing so much, and that freshmen are being paid more, then maybe they just need to move on to the NFL.

Somehow, this "Georgia problem" doesn't seem to be a problem for anyone else. Or the NFL.

And I'm sure that Magic Johnson would love to be paid the way that younger players got paid in the 90s. Or the 00s. Certainly the 10s and 20s.

We just have to BE HONEST. UGa was willing to pay $2M for Cantwell (or "just under $2M"). Even if Kirby is right, and Cantwell got $2.5 million, what are they really fighting over? $500K? Somehow, it was PERFECTLY VALID for Georgia to pay Cantwell $2M, but it is OUTRAGEOUS to pay him $2.5M? Get the **** out of here (Georgia)...

Oh, and they think that this kid, who bonded with Miami, gave us a silent verbal, and has repeatedly said that Miami recruited him the hardest...suddenly flipped his "first place team Georgia" for his "third place team Miami" over a last minute $500K? Let's not forget, several Georgia writers told us it was down to Georgia and Oregon, and that they were afraid Phil Knight's money would win the battle.

Georgia sent FOUR writers to the commit ceremony to discover the level of Georgia's self-delusion.

Again, get the **** out of here (Georgia)...

Kirby love it or Leave it ,It’s Capitalism at is Finest Communist Kirby

NIL = Bad

Under the table bags = Good

Got it...
Bottom line, certain schools could get away with paying no more than $300K to get players to arrive, because they participated in a system that allowed a handful of schools to pay and barred the majority of schools from doing the same.

Now these same schools have to pay far more, and everyone can participate.
