Georgia Hires Kirby Smart....Now it gets Interesting....

With Georgia hiring Kirby Smart, Dan Mullen no longer has his dream job he wanted at Georgia... If Richt decides to pass and sit out a year (which I think he won't)...Does this mean Mullen is now the Top Candidate for the UM job?? Thoughts???

Another example of a supposedly incredible job hiring a total unknown quantity. They're going huge risk potential high reward on this one. Don't love the hire at all.
 
still can't understand Herman staying at Houston... Wish we woulda gone all out for him

Just like I mentioned multiple times before, the main reason Richt was fired is because UGA feels strongly about Kirby. If Kirby Smart was not seeking a head coaching and being considered as the top candidate for one of their rivals South Carolina, Richt would not be fired. Richt is like the king of Athens, nobody is happy that he's gone. The AD just felt it was time for a change and didn't want to miss on his guy.
 
Smart to UGA is basically everything that we were afraid of our admin doing...college coordinator with no experience, "Georgia ties", etc this is a huge risk that they are taking.

He was staying regardless.... he waiting for Texas

It doesn't have much to do with Texas imo. He can stay at Houston and build that program up. The Big 12 is going to come a knocking soon enough and he will have his guys in place to make a run out the gate.

Houston is a big market and tossing 3 mil his way is proof that they are tired of being a pit stop for great coaches.
 
I hope it workout because I live in Bulldog country and i'm a UGA fan(of course on a much lower scale than Miami), but at the same time I expect it to be just like Muschamp with FLA.

True, no experience as a HC is risk.

But if you're going the coordinator route you may as well go with the DC of the best coach around.

this describes my situation and feeling on this
 
Smart decision and they obviously have been working on it awhile. Patient fanbase who knows where they are in the SEC pecking order and they'll give him time. I suspect they'll be a force in every year from recruiting to on the field. The East is rising from the ashes.

Better for us. Everyone else ignored the point of your post, which is that Mullen is in play. Mullen or Richt is a win.
