Gattie to Maryland

Doesn't everyone look good at bama?
It seems like you'd have to try to mess that up. Although, it's pretty clear that Locksley knows what he's doing since he's been solid at Maryland.

I'm curious how Tommy Reese is going to do there now.

I have no idea how Maryland does recruiting/winning so I'll take your word for it

Gattis says you can't be boo'ed if noone shows up.

Their offense has been generally good since Locksley took over in 2019. Well, they sucked in 2019 but have been pretty good since.

What are they saying about the hire on the Maryland boards?
I dont think they care as much because its Locksleys offense and he will probably be the play caller. Then you got Sumlin as co OC.

The role Gattis is in at Maryland wont be nearly as important as his role when he was here even though the title is technically the same.

If they want to win titles they going about it all wrong but if they win to have decent seasons by all means do u.

Maryland isn't a program that can realistically compete for titles. 90% of the teams in FBS can't. About the best they can hope for is winning seasons with occasional bowl wins. There's a reason why the same teams are in the playoffs every year.

Your right, in this era I think it's less than 10% but sure someone could surprise, but that's not anytime soon.

Mixed reviews. I'd say more are happy than concerned. They seem to believe his failure at Miami stemmed from TVD getting hurt, poor roster, etc. Someone has a partner who is supposedly close to people involved in Miami recruiting etc. He told them that Gattis didn't get along with anyone - players or other coaches. Said Mario was a real taskmaster and hard to work for. They also believe we are paying him two years salary...... LOL

It is believed that he will be running Locksley's offense with maybe a few of his own wrinkles. Also seems to be confusion on which position he will coach.

Thanks. Sounds like what others on here have been saying allllll along.

Nobody liked him, and he won't even be running "his" offense.

I do question why they think we are paying for him? Was that not the hold up in the first place (for cause)?

Makes sense. Definitely seems like the low man on the totem pole.

I don’t think that’s general knowledge yet outside the immediate Canes boards. And truthfully, it’s been made more clear here than anywhere else.

I can’t comprehend how awful coaches routinely are given 2nd and 3rd chances when their track record shows they are clearly awful.
I'm okay with second chances. It's entirely possible that a coach - like anyone - can reflect, correct, and adapt based on successes and failures.

True. I doubt most know the details behind his delayed firing.

Honestly, that works for me as idgaf about the Terps.

They gonna learn... lol

Thanks to Maryland we have this stupid ACC contract costing us money and all leverage of leaving this stupid conference. So F em.
