GAMETIME HOGTOWN PARKING UPDATE - as of 8/30

Soooo...that's a good question. I am going to arrive at 8 am to be AVAILABLE to start checking folks in, I just don't know if anyone will arrive at 8 am.

I would say that by NOON, most of the people will have arrived and set up their spots. Again, because it is an away game, I am not expecting "Hard Rock" levels of cooking/grilling expertise. People may choose to bring a bunch of Pub Subs or RAISING CANES chicken wings. I just don't know about that part.

But I'd imagine that chilled beverages will be plentiful.
Y’all are gonna be near the Publix? Where exactly? I’m with my Sister and Brother in Law unfortunately they are Gators but we’d swing by and hang. Got a bottle of crown to sip on

not parking but selling my two tickets (UM section) as I got new seats. just selling them at face value no profit but willing to negotiate. DM me if interested and we can figure out a solution.

All,

Because of the overwhelming number of inquiries in the last couple of days, I wanted to post both a general and personal update on the Hogtown parking situation for Saturday.

1. We have sold 31 of our 30 parking spots (I'm technically going to park on the sidewalk to block one of the parking lot entrances), but we humbly welcome and invite anyone who wants to pass through for drinks and/or food to join our group. Also, you MAY be able to park nearby (more on that later). I have distributed 30 parking permits to those who have been sending me payment over the past couple of weeks, I believe this MAY help you in case the idiot Hogtown cops try to mess with you as you try to find our spot, since we are within a block of both University Avenue AND NW 13th Street (US 441), which are two of the three busiest roads in Hogtown (along with Archer).

2. GAMEDAY ACCESS - I have heard that the Hogtown police (pigs? I joke, I keed) will be shutting down a portion of University Avenue so that pedestrians can cross. I strongly suspect that they will shut down about 10 blocks, from the President's house to US 441 (NW 13th Street). Be aware.

3. Because of #2 above, I STRONGLY recommend taking the Newberry Road exit off of I-75. AFTER you pass the Oaks Mall on your right, Newberry will curve to the right and you can make a LEFT on NW 8th Avenue. Take NW 8th Avenue east until you get close to 441. You will pass by the original Hogtown settlement (near NW 34th Street) and cross Hogtown Creek (these are not jokes, you guys just thought I made up all the "Hogtown" stuff, didn't you?). You can make a right turn on NW 18th Terrace or NW 17th Street and search for parking in the area. SOME ROADS ARE ONE-WAY, keep your eyes open. The area between NW 34th Street and NW 13th Street, and between NW 8th Avenue and University, has long been known as "the student ghetto", and there are a lot of houses and older apartment buildings. You may be able to secure an "old Orange Bowl" yard-parking/no-blockee situation if you arrive early enough.

4. UM tix - if you got tickets through UM, you are likely in the NORTH end zone, or in the southeast corner of the stadium. Both areas are easily accessible from the north where our parking lot is (and the Canes United group too). I strongly recommend that you use University Avenue, it is mostly businesses and (thank God) religious buildings on the north side of the road, so your chances of being pelted with stuff (as always happens in Tallahassee) are greatly reduced.

5. UM event - if you purchased tix for the UM event at the Reitz Union, that will be found in an area to the southeast of the southeast corner of the stadium (no, I didn't stutter). I am not sure if that is an indoor or outdoor event, but Reitz is a pretty big area.

6. Nearby - Where we will be located is very close to Krispy Kreme/Dunkin (2!), as well as Publix, Piesano's (WHOOOO!), Insomnia Cookies, and RAISING CANES. And Chipotle (R.I.P., Burrito Brothers). Leonardo's Pizza is solid, though I've never been to the "by the slice" location. Also, there is Blue Boy Pizza for @JBCanes-NC and @Dr.L.ThugU and @stevehick and @JG13 and @JG14 and the rest of the crew. And Wawa for you Philly phucks.

7. Post-game - Would love to taunt any Gators at, say, Spurriers. Or Ale House. Or Dave & Busters. All are located at Celebration Pointe, a new spot on the west side of I-75. EDIT: Was just talking with some of the guys, and we may go to Gators Dockside on University Avenue/Newberry Road. Place is huge.

8. Pizza - the only spot worth going out of the way for is Satchel's, over on the NE side of town. Bring enough to share at the tailgtate, though.

9. Pretext stops - the Hogtown cops are INFAMOUS for making pretext stops. So...you know...crack your windows...

10. Hotel Eleo - if you want to see the best hotel on a retention pond in Hogtown, it's at the corner of 441 and SW 16th Avenue. Bring your own fire extinguishers...
My son and I are firing up the RV. We roll in tonight around 7. What side off University and 13th are you guys? Are you behind the huge apartment complex on the Northside of University?

It's all good, sir. In addition to having mad respect for your log-in name, I realize that debate is for the internet, and once it's time for gameday, we all wear the same colors and need to support each other, particularly in hostile stadia.

I have three brothers (one will be there Saturday) and I went to law school. I argue like a ************.

But we are all Cane brethren this weekend!

Stay safe, use the buddy system, and contact me if you have any questions.

And if a cop tries to arrest you, find me and I'll try to play my "I'm a UF alum" card. Technically, it's true, though I have my undergrad, MBA, and JD from Miami.

GO CANES!
So just to be clear...and I dig the spirit of unity...but if cway himself saunters up to you and wants to start laying high-fives, cracking jokes and asking for a sip of your swill, you'd roll with it no hesitation?

Our official address is 117 NW 15th Street, we are 3 blocks from Publix. You can walk into the parking lot on NW 1st Avenue.

Cway is a special hard case. Serial recidivist. No parole…

:D

Big THANK YOU and major props to TOC for organizing the parking situation on Saturday. It was flawlessly executed and a good time was had by all who attended (as far as I could tell). The directions were crystal clear and it was a hassle-free and predominantly Gator-free zone.

Well done, good sir!
