Games Today - Saturday

Just a bad fit.

He had some talent there considering the lack of commitment & resources they have as a program for Football, but he still had Jared Goff as his QB for his tenure there. The thing about his Cal stint, was they almost every season they would start off either 4-1 or 5-0 & then have a terrible collapse for the rest of the season going on losing streaks.

They had very good Offensive output as well, but just couldn’t get the Defense right.

Cal is also just a really difficult place to win at, they haven’t had a winning Coach since Jeff Tedford. They don’t spend any money on recruiting & unless you’re a really good player scout, you’re not gonna stumble across too much talent that wants to go to Cal, although they’ve put some really good players in the league over the years.

It’s basically job where you have to do more with less & while also exhausting all options as a Coach. Some Coaches are great at X’s & O’s but not great at recruiting, some Coaches are great at recruiting but not at X’s & O’s, very few are great at both. At a program like Cal, in order to succeed to you gotta be good at both, while also looking under rock to find underrated talent, because the players in Cali are going to USC, Oregon or elsewhere OOS.
I've said this before but his defenses at Cal were quite literally the worst defenses in CFB history for a p5 program. Possibly the worst pass defense of any program ever his first two years there. The offense was good. Cal does pretty well with QBs and RBs historically. While Dykes was there they had good WRs and a solid OLine. But man he just never got anytthing going defensively.
Though in Dykes defense Cal was seriously on a major downward trajectory when they got rid of Tedford in 2012. So him getting to 8 wins including a bowl was actually a pretty solid turn around for them...

@Memnon you're the biggest Matt Mumme fan on this board. Why you think his offenses have been struggling at CSU?
No resources, no players, no QB.

Wash ST put up 50 on them running the exact same system that Matt came from.

CSU doesn’t have any money to recruit, they haven’t had a winning season since Jim McElwain was there.

The majority of the players they get are JUCO transfers or low ranked 2/3-star kids who could barely make it into a school.

I mean… I’ve only been saying Dana didn’t call plays for a year lol
Your info on this last year was highlighted multiple times. If people still think that Dana called plays last year, they need to reshuffle their deck.

Texas Tech got all that preseason hype and they’re getting dominated by Wyoming. After an opening drive TD, they got another off of a fumble and short field, and then a FG after another fumble. Haven’t scored since 4 minutes left in the 1st quarter. Their offense is a disaster.

Yikes at that Baylor loss - Texas State was 4-8 last year in the Sun Belt!

Are we sure Aranda isn't on the hot seat?

Terrible loss, but this is a completely different Tx St team. Last year means nothing. They got rid of the Spavital family and brought in real offensive minds.

And Tech’s kicker has missed 3 FG’s lmao

Is TT’s QB the only player Cristobal has recruited to start at QB for a P5 school?
