Perry played well. This team is a 2 loss team at this point if Perry starts the whole season. Part of him not starting is on him - suspended for LSU and unofficially suspended for BC. The other part is on Richt. It stills baffles my mind, as it does all of us, that Richt hung on to Rosier for as long as he did. If we look back on this season as to where it went wrong, without a doubt we can say it was when Perry got yanked against Virginia. That set the team into a downward spiral we could not recover from.
OL is just not good. LD has regressed big time. The OL plays with no discipline and consistently with bad technique. If Searles is not replaced then I imagine much the same next season. Last year you could give Searles a pass due to the talent he was using. This year you have talented guys that simply have not gotten better as the season goes on, and maybe are playing worse. There is simply no reason to keep Searles. One could not even use the argument that OL recruits might jump. That is a poor argument considering he is not a good recruiter to start with. Get some fresh blood in here ASAP.
Cam Davis is a beast. The Seniors that really want to play in a bowl game should be thanking him. He is a big time player and I imagine he will be second string next game. DJ has lost his burst and I believe that is weight related by the looks of it.
The rough start by the D was largely due to Pickney being out. On the screen play for the TD, Smith crashed on the RB when it looked like he should have outside contain. I think Pickney makes that play as he does well to sniff out those types of plays. Look forward to #56 being back.
Manny - another second half shutout. This guy is amazing at making halftime adjustments. Love his intensity.
Richt - I completely disagree with him running out the clock with 9 minutes left. No killer instinct. The offense completely collapsed when they realized we were running the clock out. Several reasons why he should not have done that:
1. Perry needs as many throwing reps as he can get.
2. This team has sucked it up on offense for 4 games. Now we finally get in a rhythm and you shut it down. Give my a break. Keep the freaking foot on the break.
3. Fans need something to get excited about. Throw us a bone Richt.
4. Recruits are jumping off board. Why not give them something to be excited about for next year?
Man I just don't get it. That passive approach just doesn't work in football today. Recruits notice it. I just don't get what Richt is thinking.
Jeff Thomas was amazing on Punt Returns. That five yard dive to the pylon was just sick!
You mean an opposing kicker missed a FG? Impossible.
And did we face an equally bad punter? Interesting that when the Special Teams game was actually won the game was not close. Richt wake up and hire a ST coordinator.
