Game 48: Louisville 5/7/26

But Menendez would have had a clean slate inning after a shutdown from Robert while we were up 8 runs. It’s the perfect slot for Menendez. Jd’s dumbass has continued to trot him out there in high leverage situations since returning. Last night was the definition of not high leverage given the run advantage after a shutdown from robert.

Im sorry but this is common sense. Total incompetence from Jd all year trotting Menendez out there in high leverage… which like you’ve mentioned he’s struggled. Last night wasn’t high leverage until dumb dumb decided to trot Robert back out there for a 2nd inning…. Which surprise surprise blew up in his face and UL put up a 4 spot.

I have no sympathy for the assclown anymore
I'm assuming it's because Robert had such a low pitch count in the 1st inning he pitched.. figured to get him a little more work. Not arguing, just guessing at the thought process..

You’re right. But watch how this weeknd plays out when JD trots Menendez out there in another high leverage situations since when last night was served on a silver platter

We all know it’s coming 🤣

A competent coach with a massive lead gives Robert an inning and Menendez an inning as they both desperately need it.

Jd did something right by giving Robert an inning. He looked great. What does dumb dumb do next? Trot him out there for a 2nd inning 🤣

Guess what happens next? Robert gets in trouble the following inning so now he has to bring in a valuable piece of the pen instead of doing what any competent skipper (pitching coach for a quarter of a century) would do: bring Menendez in the following inning after roberts 1 inning.

JD you absolutely stink at your job. A job you have done for 25 years. The only people I know who have done a ****** job for 25 years straight are politicians: bravo to you, you’re in a league of your own. Truly.
Brother, JD said Nick Robert was only getting two innings this weekend. He said it on the interview with D$ yesterday.

Brother, what jd says to this fanbase is more worthless than what my nephews little league coach says. Especially as it relates to anything pitching related. Specifically, bullpen management

What? Brother has been the most honest and truthful Miami coach in the modern media era. He told us Nick Robert was only pitching two innings, and he pitched two innings. Just because he got ripped in the 2nd inning, what does that have to do with anything? He said he wasn't going to put him in pressure spots. When did you want him to pitch? Do you want him to be a one-inning merchant all year long? I'm confused

Than why has Menendez been put in pressure situations all year? Also returning from injury like Robert.

I have stopped watching the state media interviews of JD. Let me go check it out
It is state media, but it's the only place you will get a long-form interview from JD. The majority of the reporters are scared to lose access, JD trusts D$, so he will be more honest with him than the other media members

Yeah man, no one needs any sympathy. I was just sort of marveling that we've reached the nadir where, no matter what decision is made he's made the wrong decision. That's fine for people to think - this is not a particularly good team, and they aren't very fun to watch. Personally, I'm at the point where as long as we have one more run after the 51st/54th out is made, I'm content. Debating the minutiae of every single in-game decision is just a waste of time.

That said, if their catcher has his foot on the plate and Shehan gets forced out at home on a line drive to left field, I would've walked out.

So just watched it. So JD has learned his lesson finally of not putting pitchers returning from injury into high leverage situations! Essentially ruining Menendez this year because, it’s not like he did it once or twice, he trotted Menendez out there every outing in high pressure situations.

Glad Jd learned his lesson after a quarter of a century as a pitching coach!! Man he’s a quick learner!! Absolutely the right man for the job. Hopefully in another 25 years he will learn that having a righty left batting order isn’t a requirement for the job also!

If some of JD's decisions weren't so transparently asinine then his detractors wouldn't rush to judgement. But when you pull stunts like pinch hitting Cuvet late at FAU when his back was already sore, you simply lose any leverage or goodwill that's been accrued. He should have pinch hit Jackson Hugus in that spot since it worked out so well at Clemson.

JD's burner does have somewhat of a point, though. He's dug himself so deep a hole that he's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. There's a guy arguing for 3 days on another thread that we should've pinch hit for Sosa with bases loaded in the 8th on Saturday. If Menendez goes in and does his typical Menendez routine of striking out the first batter, giving up a jamshot single to the second and then walking three in a row, we are all here still muther****ing JD. It is what it is at this point - a win's a win. The way this team plays, it's a minor miracle we are gonna get 35 of them.
How come you can say 35 and get no pushback?? I got this
