Game 44: 4/26/25 BC

Win 2/3 remaining ACC series and final mid-week, and I'd have to believe we'll make the post-season.

Agree. I am not a JD fan by any means, we can do a lot better, but the team is playing good baseball at the moment. If we were losing series to the likes of BC and Pitt we would have the pitchforks out by now.

I agree w both of you. Like it or not, JD's getting another year IMO unless the team totally collapses in May. So, I'd prefer to root for wins and the players, and be on an upward trajectory for getting to the post-season, keeping recruits excited, etc.

And it simply isn't in me to root against any Canes team. Lodge the complaints, as I have, w the AD and admin and tell them to hold him accountable. The rest is out of our control.

Big picture….. JD has provided two worst canes season records in 50years. Cant win a series vs our two main rivals (uf/fsu). Up and down games vs floridas 2nd tier teams (fau, fiu, ucf).

This cant be acceptable at a blue blood baseball program with 4 nattys.

Nobody said it is, but let's hope your 2nd "worst" season prediction is premature w 11 games remaining.

You do realize that there was a regional in the early 2000s where we made the postseason with I think our final record of 31 and 27 or something close to that so you might want to check the hyperbole I can’t remember the year, but it definitely happened. I just checked it was 2002. They went 34 and 29 as the defending national champions and still qualified for a regional. And they’ve had plenty of records since with 30 something wins and 20 something losses under Morris Gino and now JD so it’s hardly from the worst anything. The trouble is if he improves, but his postseason results are the same as Gino‘s then we’re stuck in the mud and that’s what I think is gonna happen Unfortunately.

Could you honestly say with a straight face that if JD wasn’t retained, the pool of candidates would be a clear upgrade? Because that’s the overarching theme of this it’s not his fault he took the job. And I didn’t think the two other candidates that were rumored were better than he was by a lot. They were better, but by a very narrow margin now you can say he doesn’t deserve the job and you’d be right. but I think there’s a minimization of the program at play that has nothing to do with JD or any coach before him.
