I feel like that was a good example of why everyone needs to pump the breaks in both directions on Menendez (and soon on Robert). That outing was microcosm of a pitcher coming back from TJ. The good moments were really good and it’s easy to get excited, but the command is prone to come and go from game to game or inning to inning or batter to batter.
He’s working through his process, and we shouldn’t be anointing him closer in the good moments or being too critical in the rough moments. It’ll get better as time goes on like it did with Caba and Walters a couple years ago, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’ll be on the timeline we he hope it’s on.
