He’s thinking…”when does the portal open”
Where exactly does someone go with career average of ~.160? I had such high expectations for him. I hope he takes his studies seriously.
He had a great opportunity to play this season and it hasn't worked out.

If Collera is hurt he needs to be shut down.

If not what they have done to him is as bad as I’ve seen. His mechanics are different, his velo is down. I mean holy ****. If I can get to a desk top computer I’ll try to find a clip from high school compared to now.
They didn't do anything to him. He lost his velo senior year of HS. went from 98-99 to 89-91. he has been gaining it back to 92-94

This wasn’t easy on my phone and snapping from videos. The top photo is just after where the second photo is…I’m not sure I’ve ever seen someone with their hand like that in the top photo.

He is really all out of wack. Maybe they tried tinkering to get some Velo back. But he really needs a summer off from games and just go back and start from scratch. He has always had some command concerns so we are doing him no favors right now trotting him out in high level situations. I’m all for working through some things but this is much bigger than just a dead arm or a grip. All this could lead to something much worse.

Ya, I'm old school. I prefer the old drop and drive w the throwing arm fully extended well behind the body when it comes out of the glove.

These short-arm motions over-stress the elbow and shoulder and do more wear and tear IMO.

He’s looks uncomfortable throwing and his weight transfer off his back leg is horrible. Sucking up all of his velocity. He needs to go to a winter league and work with some of those guys or completely take it off and rebuild his entire pitching motion with somebody independent.

That’s not old school. You want full, controlled extension because it’s the most repeatable and comfortable motion rather if it’s at 3/4, side arm, or over the top. If you don’t have a simple, comfortable, and repeatable motion you will struggle.

You want guys who are glute dominant and then travel down the mound. “Ride the slide” That’s ideal. Obviously outliers. And some guys get away with closing to much at landing or to open.

But our bodies tend to go toward the path of least resistance which isn’t ideal when you are trying to create efficiency.

Hopefully they shut him down after the season and he lives with Soto all summer. I hate the guys who comment online with every young kid “here comes TJ.” But Laz has a lot of tendencies of guys who end up getting TJ.
