This game is tremendously important. We've been cold and hit a wall after starting hot. Our team really needs to regain the intensity after the last 2 losses. After one of the worst losses I have ever seen, let's hope we can go into the Barclay's Center and get the win. We need to go into ACC play with a win against Providence AND College of Charleston; but one game at a time. Don't forget we get Cruz Uceda back in the second half of the season.
Providence is 9-3 (0-0), they were 23-12 (10-8) last year and they made the tourney. They're 7-1 at home and 2-2 at neutral/road locations. Miami is 5-0 at neutral/road locations.
Who have they played:
Wins
Albany 4-6
Binghamton 1-12
Navy 3-8
FSU 6-5
Notre Dame 11-1
Yale 9-4
URI 7-3
Stony Brook 5-6
UMass 6-5
Providence W/L Record (Wins): 52-50
Miami W/L Record (Wins): 42-45
Losses
@ UK 12-0
Brown 5-6
@ Boston College 6-3
Providence W/L Record (Losses): 23-9
Miami W/L Record (Losses): 14-6
Other Notes:
1. SOS: Providence 64th v. Miami 76th (http://www.teamrankings.com/ncaa-basketball/ranking/strength-of-schedule-by-team)
2. RPI: Providence 50th v. Miami 69th (http://www.teamrankings.com/ncb/rpi/)
3. Providence has won 3 straight and is 3-3 in their last 6 games. Miami is 4-2 in their last 6 games.
4. At Neutral/Road Locations: Providence (2-2) scores 63.25 PPG and allows 63.75. Miami (5-0) scores 73.6 PPG and allows 59.2 PPG.
5. Both teams really need a win here. I wouldn't say either team is playing well but Providence won their last 3. Miami has the advantage at Neutral/Road locations and I will be there so that may help.
6. Miami and Providence each average 35.5 RPG
Players to Watch:
LaDontae Henton: 19.6 PPG, 5.3 RPG, 1.3 APG and 1.8 SPG [Kid is darn good]
Kris Dunn: 13.1 PPG, 5.2 RPG, 6.5 APG and 2.9 SPG [Kid is also darn good]
Tyler Harris: 12.1 PPG, 5.2 RPG and 1.6 APG [Nice player, he is Tobias Harris's brother]
Spread: TBD
One Last Thought: Although the first half of the season has had it's ups and downs, there is plenty of time left to fix the issues before ACC play. If we can fight get a win against Providence it will really swing things in the right direction going into ACC play. So let's hope Coach L has the kids focused and ready to play intense basketball.
