But in that situation it’s sort of like calling a pass interference on a Hail Mary

What an outing from Evans and what an effort from Bilka. Never in all my years of playing and watching baseball have I ever seen such a poor balk call. It’s clear he comes to a stop. On top of that I have never seen a balk stop the momentum of a team dead in its tracks. I’m sick

You just can't call a balk there. It's not even in the spirit of the rule (which is to prevent advantage through deceiving runner or throwing timing off hitter.
