Game 1 predictions: @ Louisville

I'd like to address Kevin's excuse of a Face now, and his point about Petrino's defenses.

Bobby Petrino's 8 seasons as a head coach at UL and Arkansas:

Average total defense rank - 51
Top 40 defenses - 4

Al Golden's 8 seasons as head coach at Temple and Miami:

Average total defense rank - 66
Top 40 defenses - 2

So even the man you just tried to have a laugh at over his defensive inefficiencies, is STILL putting better units on the field than Golden and Dorito. That's really sad, huh?

Oh, and sidenote, he has the added bonus of actually excelling on one side of the ball. At least he's putting great offenses out there.

Enough with facts. This is, after all, CiS!!!

Guysm, I'm gonna need you'll cowards to turn in your #CaneCards by tonight.... Whopper and I have already done it

Gotta love the clueless casual football fans who underestimate just how great of a coach Petrino is. Coincidentally, these are the same guys who schlub around all year in a mustard-stained Al Golden tie shirt telling people to #TRUSTTHEPROCESS like ****ing dopes.

- 8 years at afterthought programs Louisville and Arkansas.
- Won 10 or more games 4 times.
- 3 BCS game appearances.
- 2 BCS wins
- 5 seasons finished ranked in the top 25
- 2 Conference titles

- Total offenses finished ranked:

(Louisville)
-- 5th
-- 1st
-- 9th
-- 2nd

(Arkansas)
-- 49th
-- 20th
-- 9th
-- 29th

8 years. 5 top 10 offenses. 6 in the top 25.

He's going to toy with this Al Groh-style, Big 10 defense designed for fat white Polish kids from Pennsylvania.

When Golden is looking helplessly across the field at Petrino, and Duke is doing his best Bobby Boucher impression trying to get him to picture Petrino as a puppy, it'll already be too late. Golden teams are soft. This game is too hostile, and the talent left by Strong is very good.

Oh, and in case anyone forgot, we're either starting a reject that couldn't hack it at BYU and Kansas, or a kid who was in high school 3 months ago.

Louisville 34
Miami 17

So it's a shootout? His defenses averaged over 25 points a game with SEC recruits giving up over 4400 yards EVERY year. Not too much better than Marky Mark. So yeah, I'll take that BYU reject with Stacey Coley, Duke Johnson, Dorsett, Gray, Yearby, Waters, etc. Some of you fans are more chicken than Petrino when he ran from the Falcons. Come on man.

So your position is that Arkansas is on par with the top teams of the SEC?

My position is Petrino made a career off one season with a 12-1 record with Louisville before they even faced Big East competition. He is a great offensive mind. Will he have the offense flowing game one? He's never been good at putting respectable defenses on the field so can they stop all of out play makers? They just got the DC from Georgia whose fans feel about him the way ours feel about D'No. Plus, it will be the defenses first game after switching to a 3-4. Petrino is being made out to be all world here. Arkansas isn't Alabama but you're still getting SEC recruits and they even had the #1 player in the nation. Falcons 3-10. His most successful ventures have not been in main conferences. I'm not saying he's not a good coach but posters in here are making the man out to be Saban. If he was as good as people say he wouldn't be returning to Louisville.

We're not making him out to be Saban, look closely at what we're positing. He went 10-2 in the SEC, the god **** SEC, in his third year at the football program. Would you say that Golden is even in the same planet as that success wise?

No Golden hasn't reached that level of success and his window of opportunity is closing. But Will Muschamp has reached that level and Golden's team has beaten him. I'm not saying Petrino isn't a better coach than Golden. However, Petrino is a scumbag who is far from unbeatable and these Canes are ready to take him on.

Nice immature response by DK. His feelings were clearly hurt, and his sassy response made me think he typed it out with one hand on his hip after leaving a *** bar.

I guess it's all or nothing. If I think Petrino is a better coach, and facing him on the road means we are gonna lose, then somehow Petrino is a football God, and Duke is soft.

**** of a conclusion to make.

Where exactly was the maturity in your silly comments about "fat white Polish kids from Pennsylvania" and Duke doing his best "Bobby Boucher" impression? Bottom line is you presented it as if Petrino were THE world's greatest ever offensive coach in the history of football. Yes, he's a top offensive coach. His defense has lots of holes, his offense still has some major questions, including a patchwork offensive line.

Thank you for picking out the few lines in my post that weren't statistical evidence of his success.

Again, more proof you have no rebuttal. You'd be better off shutting up instead of repeatedly showing your ***.

You're the one that made silly comments about "maturity" following those immature, and childish comments. I've already made my rebuttal. L'ville has lots of holes. You seem to think that Petrino alone is so almighty that his team is unbeatable despite those holes. New QB, patchwork offensive line, new defense, weak secondary. Not guaranteeing a win, but L'ville is far from the super-foe you pretend they are, with or without almighty Petrino.

Name me a team that doesn't have holes.

New QB? If that's a hole for them, our new QB duo of a two-program reject and kid who just left prom is a canyon.
The right side of our OL is a huge question mark.
Our defense was horrendous last year.

In a game like this I look at the coaching and who's at home. Pretty simple. We have a guy who excels as an offensive mind vs two dudes who have been tuned up anytime they play a decent team.

Your immature response was you acting like a woman in a fight and saying "oh well I guess we shouldn't even bother playing then!"

Well, it should be noted that I said his defenses were better but not THAT much better. So I'll take our offensive play makers over their defense. Petrino's offensive mind over our defense. Difference being that they will be playing their first game with new systems on both sides of the ball.

D-LINE IS KEY! we will score points vs anybody. If we can get to the qb/stop the rb in the backfield it can hide some weakness @ LB & possibly in the secondary (personally, i think they may suprise alot of ppl) i dont think we have the most talented d-line but i do think we have alot of guys we can throw at the opposing team. if that is the case ill take a bunch of fresh guys in the 4th quarter any day. Go Canes!

We have been absolutely smashed by any team with a pulse. I see no reason to think this game will be any different.
UL-49
UM-20

Frankly they are kind of built for us because their OL is their weakness with a new QB. Because of that, I don't think they light up the scoreboard. I'll go with 27-24 Miami. This will be a close game. If it was home for us, I think we'd win by 2 TDs.

What I'm learning from these trogs on CiS is that history has no bearing on future performances. Just base your opinion on the euphoric gobbly **** spouted by GoRlden and his ****** side kick (that gets lapped up by the mouthbreathers). Nevermind D'ohrito getting manhandled by Duke and VaTech, we really, really believe it's going to be different this year!!! C'mon guYsm, if you believe hard enough, anything's possible. #believe

Yes, every team has holes. Louisville has MORE holes than last year, we have fewer. Their D will be worst than last year. Ours should be better. They had one of the top QBs in the nation last year, now they have an unknown. We also have unknowns, but they will be replacing a mediocre, unsteady QB from last year. We played without our #1 offensive weapon last year (Duke) as well as with our top receivers playing injured. Our OL is a strength, not a weakness. Their entire OL is a question mark, with one returning starter and no major top name backups or high-level recruits moving into starting roles.

You were the one posting like we shouldn't even bother playing then, because almighty Petrino is coaching and we should just consider it a loss.

Try that sort of analysis in the real world and tell me how people respond. Hence my theory.

I think Miami actually has the better D in this game which is hard to believe. I see Miami running all over their D which should open up the passing game. Miami has to make a couple of stops and they should be fine plus we have the better special teams. Of course I'm a little bit biased being a Miami fan but I actually like our chances more in this game vs the bowl game this past season. Canes 31- Lville 24. (Really hope I'm right lol.... otherwise I will be angry.)

Also............. Louisville is beatable at home. I was at the UCF/ Louisville game this past year.

What I'm getting from you is that players don't matter, just coaches and "history" regardless of who actually played in the game. Ignore the fact that L'ville's best player, possibly best in their program history, is gone. Ignore that they have one returning OL player with starting experience, and no highly rated backups moving into starting roles on the OL. Ignore that they are installing a completely new defense that the current players never played before, and have a new DC that many fans from his past school view as poorly as we do D'Onofrio. Ignore that last year we had Kacy Rodgers and Highsmith playing significant minutes at safety due to lack of depth, despite the fact that both were more fit for FAMU than UM. Ignore the fact that we've at the least got equivalent talent, and likely an improvement in talent, at DT this year, and a definite improvement at the DE spots. Ignore that last year we played without our best player (Duke) and our top WRs were playing hobbled.

Last year's UL team is not this year's team. Last year's UM team is not this year's team. UL is not FSU. They aren't some top-notch team, so pretending that there is no way we can beat them is ridiculous.
