Gamblers - Week 9

I like betting some footie as well! I put this one in yesterday:

PARLAY (8 TEAMS)
[224201] BAYERN MUNICH -433
[224226] AS ROMA -288
[224242] PARIS ST GERMAIN -218
[200190] LIVERPOOL -928
[200177] CHELSEA -281
[202509] BAYERN MUNICH -372
[201393] JUVENTUS -363
[206662] FC PORTO -732
That's a lot of chalk! $50 pays $284.

We have a couple of iguanas around our lake out back. If I trap some and put numbers on them and post a line on 1/4 mile how much action can I get out of this board?

Thx four da info!
Always just look at a ML bet in terms of a $100 play. If it is a negative ML that is how much youd have to risk to profit $100. If it is a positive ML that is how much you will profit on a $100 bet/risk.

I personally dont make straight bets on favorites on the money line very often. I either take the heavy chalk in parlays where Im not paying that huge vig, or I bet large positive moneylines where I think there is a legitimate chance of the outright upset and I can get a big cash.

One of my best hits of all time was on Houston vs Oklahoma when they opened in Norman that year. I just had a gut feeling Houston would win that game outright and so I laid the wood on Houston at like +450 on the ML rather than getting the +10pts or so on the spread. That bet funded my entire season of bankroll.

My brother (UCF alum) made a small fortune last year pounding the **** out of the UCF moneyline vs Auburn. I forget what it was, but it was high. I tried to talk him out of it when I saw how heavy he was betting it (and wasnt taking the pts instead which I think was like close to two TDs) but he stuck to his guns and I was with him celebrating as UCF started pulling away. Good times!

It's blind faith since I love LeBron but I can't see him starting 0-4.

Taking Lakers -3 tonight.

Definitely agree. Also looking at Houston -2...I know CP3 is out but I think that just allows Harden to take over. Home game, Rockets don't want to fall to 1-3.. I'll take the small line.

I think this was mentioned in another post but any good college football betting podcasts you folks listen to

I just put in a 3 game teaser for tonight with 1pt bought:

App St/GaSouthern over 41;
GT/VT under 65; and
WVU-7.

Pays +120 with the 1pt bought or would have paid +180 without.

I really think that hits. So much so I may press it.

I don't myself. I just go off my feel based on how closely I follow CFB and NFL and also read a lot of different writers takes on how they think games are going to play out. If I took betting more seriously, I probably should have some true betting experts I get advice from each week.

Behind the bwts with Payne insider and Todd furmahn is good. So is the action network one with Collin Wilson (can’t recall other guys name).

I listen to Stanford Steve and the Bear too, but the first 2 I mentioned are better for analytics.

Thanks for the names. I'll check them out. I read Collin on The Athletic.

I used to live in NJ where this was easy for a proven state resident, but now back in FL. Let's say I wanted to make a $100 bet on a football game this weekend. There's obviously several online betting sites that look like they would take it, many overseas. Would there be one (you would recommend) that would be safe/secure (credit info, fair and timely payoff) and legal ...available to me for an online bet?

I don't believe any offshore sites are actually legal for US citizens to use. Having said that, there are many that are absolutely legit and you as a small better don't need to worry about getting in trouble with the law. They've been operating for years, and even if the feds went after the industry (like they did on Black Friday with online poker) they aren't going after a small user (or possibly any users at all). They'd only care about going after the site and shutting it down. Heck, I had a bunch of money on Absolute Poker when Black Friday hit, and though it took a long time, the feds eventually worked out a settlement and I got my money back in full. Even though it was money because I was illegally playing online poker. So I wouldn't sweat that.

I use a private book now, so my info is a couple years outdated. But for years I bet sports on Bovada.lv. It's a good site, 100% legit, and I never had an issue with receiving payments. They pay you once per month for no charge, either by check in the mail or a wire to your account if you'd prefer. Comes in about 7 days. Just make sure you keep a photograph of the front and back of the card you use to deposit as you have to provide that to cash out and if you were to lose it, it will cause you problems. I learned that the hard way. Bovada is definitely legit.

There are a bunch of new sites now though. I hear commercials in Florida for MyBookie all the time. Only one I've ever used was Bovada, though again, that was 3+years ago. Perhaps some other folks on here using offshore sites can share who they use these days with you.

Thanks! Looked at site, saw a $250 bonus enroll for SportsBook there. The full conditions talk about online casino stuff. But, they say this:
50% Welcome Bonus
To receive your Welcome Bonus, simply redeem it, make a deposit and instantly receive a 50% bonus up to $250.
Once your deposit is processed, your bonus will be available for wagering within 30 minutes.
  • This bonus can only be redeemed on your FIRST DEPOSIT.
  • Rollover is 5X Sports/5X Horses/30X Casino on both the initial deposit and the bonus amount. Rollover in our Sportsbook, for winning wagers, will be determined by the lesser of your risk or win amount at the time of wager settlement; for losing wagers your risk amount will be credited to your rollover contribution.
So, uhh, I wanna make one (or more) $100 bets on college football. I'll be damned if I know what " 5X rollover" is or how I can somehow get some value from this bonus thing. It surely does NOT mean I enroll, add $250 to my account via deposit, and now have $500 total to bet? That would be awesome, but there must be more to it? But other than the online casino "rules" I don't see any explanations there.

50% bonus for just $250 is weak, you can find 100% up to $1,000 if you look around. For this bonus, if you deposit $250 they give you $500 in your account, but you can't withdraw a penny until you risk 5x $500 = $2,500. Think about that for a moment. Odds of you hitting that threshold are slim and none.

You can withdraw your original deposit money, just not the bonus money. You have to earn the bonus money before it can be cashed out. Now, the catch to that is when you lose a bet it goes against your deposit money and not the bonus money. So unless you just come out of the gates hot, you end up in a situation where you can't cash out.

But i wouldn't worry about that, man. Youve got $500 in your account now that is fully playable. Youre obviously not getting into this for a second source of income, so use the $500 and go have fun betting. In time, if you do well, youll be able to cash out.

For a serious better who DOES gamble as a source of income, bonuses are kind of self defeating. But its cool for those just doing it for fun and to have action on games.

Good luck to you, jkdood!

Ugh, I have a building desire to pound Miami again tonight. I know it's not wise.... I know it's not wise... I know it's not wise...

You're correct. You can't withdraw a penny of bonus money until the rollover hits, but the rollover includes both the deposit and the bonus, making it that much harder to hit.
