Interesting not to have an either or on Olu/Mathews but I’ll be honest if we was able to get the class above I wouldn’t even care bout losing the 5* tackles. lol

I agree with this…I'm not sure there is the "decision" to be made that Gabby is talking. If either of those guys want in, you take them.

But with what we landed last year (and I definitely think Ervin is a possibility at tackle, not locked in interior, with Cong and Cantwell) and especially if Hawkes can be minimum 2 deep with a chance at starting at some point in his career, then tackle is far from the biggest need on this team.

Not too sure about the context youre mentioning when you say a "decision" to be made bc i didnt read what Gaby said.

But, from a general standpoint, I think the meaning of "decision" to be made has evolved. It probably doesnt mean if both kids want in, who are you taking? But instead, who are you deciding to use the funds on at the price they are commanding.

For example. Budget 3 million.

5 star DT wants 2 milly
5 star OT wants 2 milly

Now there is a decision to be made.

When he got his offer it was for working out at TE at the camp last summer. He is fairly new to football however i have never seen an interview with him talking to JT or Mario mentioning to him about playing defense. He does both for high school, still, all the other schools that were going after him before he shut down his recruitment wanted him for TE as well.

When D$ saw him at the exposure camp earlier this year, he didn’t mention anything about him playing edge.

Maybe for instance OT vs. Folu and/or Jacobs, as he does have both in this class

On a side note, no idea why he does this to himself…Folu/Jacobs/Osborne/T.Moore (not to mention Randle) all in this class is a pipe dream, but hey let's root it home lol

Observations in his Mock class...

-No RB2… I think this is a real scenario, I'd rather take 2, I'd guess 60/40 that they will take 2. But I think 1 is a real possibility
- No WR3… Not a surprise. Most of us expected this, I don't think 3 is out of the realm, especially if one of your guys has DB potential (taking Vilma for instance), but 2 is most likely number. I'd say 3 is more likely than 1, but there is a world where we take either of those numbers.
- No more OT…. Already addressed above. It's a loss, but OT right now is one of the lesser needs on the team
- But still a home run OL, I just think it's a slight longshot to land BOTH Williams and one of the Corsair/Russell, but would welcome it. I think Ford/Williams are both buys that can at least get a look at OT as well as their safer guard prod
- Hopefully Jamar Thompson heat gets turned off if Folu elsewhere. UNLESS the weight probs are true, I see no reason to pass on Thompson
- I've said it a bunch of times, but I hope there's a backup for Jacobs…I think we need one true more edge and would prefer 6 overall DL, but we shall see. Garrer is interesting to me, Rojas as well, and A.Johnson if he reclassifies. All true edges like Jacobs/Finley.
- Only 1 LB? mentioned only 2 LB instead of 3 last week, I think 2 is the mostly likely number, I think 1 is playing with fire a little bit, but if you really love all 3 Frosh and Wiley, then I guess it's doable. I think 2 is safer.
- DB: Can we just get a **** coach in here my goodness… I think we take 6. But 5 is probably the sure bet. Others I could see in place of Osborne, or Hypolite (I think we land Hypolite, I just don't like the UF mention all of a sudden from gaby?) or as #6: Carey, Z.Davis, Banks (hopefully), Wright, N.Johnson, and super longshots Sparrow and Snell.
 
If we miss on Matthews and olu olu it will sting optics wise with missing 5 star and a 5 star local recruit but mario recruited the best oline class last yr and has a vvery good interior oline class shaping up in 26.

Just great staff is going 💯 for the dline recruitment.

These mock classes are nothing more than to generate clicks lol. Even if Gaby had the most up to date and accurate information and a direct connection to players thoughts and coaches info....it would still be wrong. Too many things change.

You think any of these recruits give a f about “optics?” We talkin bout optics. Not how it looks from the outside (to fans only); but optics. We ain’t talking about signing day. We talkin bout OPTICS! Not the final class. Optics. Not the record on the field… we just talkin bout optics.
