Gaby on LB recruiting

For missing meetings, not answering calls/texts, yelling at people who called him out for bad behavior, etc. His own teammates wanted him out
***** it, send them Lowe and we get Atkins.

Nutcase for nutcase & see who can fix their broken toy first.

They say he’s a head case, locker room cancer.. another Hayden Lowe type situation.
from Auburn side:

All he had to do was put his head down and show up in order to be drafted this spring.
Instead he decided to miss meetings, flip out on support staff, show up late to far too many things, become a crappy teammate, and a nuisance to drivers of Lee County (and folks looking for open handicap spots).

Did we lose a bidding war for Biles to Texas, or did he just choose the Longhorns? Sometimes I wonder how much this staff values the LB position.
In terms of budget allocation it’s probably last…look at the linebackers Indiana won with last year. None of them were blue chip recruits or physical freaks.

Especially now a days. You just need very smart guys who know their assignments and can fill a running lane.

You can have all the talent in the world but if you can’t consistently be where you’re supposed to be you’re not going to play

Quarterman and Pickney were good examples of this. Not all world but smart and physical. I miss having guys like that at LB

Yup, that's exactly what you need in LB. Speed and size are great but don't mean much if you can't do that. Shaq and PInckney, as other poster noted, are perfect examples.

Unfortunately it’s not a priority position in modern football. Most teams spend the whole game in nickel and of the two linebackers they use, one is normally just a big safety.

If I have a budget to spend on players, linebacker is definitely one of the positions I’m going cheap on.

We’ll have a white and a Black Cypher on our team.

Sounds like drugs

Quarterman was solid but Toure is way better than him maybe due to age idk… Pinckney had some Sean Spence in his game flashed more than Quarterman but it’s a different scheme. Our Run defense is Elite that wasn’t the case when Quarterman and Pinckney were our starters.

It's basically what we have now. Pickney despite not being a great athlete (and not your prototype build lol) was better in coverage and a little better nose for the ball than the other 3 named here. But Smith is savvy as well. "Smart and physical" isn't what we are lacking at the position. Speed and coverage ability is.

I like Shaq but overall thought he was a tad overrated here. He ended up missing a LOT of big tackles in his career for someone whose rep was a tackling machine MIKE. I'll never forget him whiffing in OT on the GT RB game winner. Definitely had his moments though too.
