Gaby’s pre-camp buzz

My take, this will be a better team with a worse record due to the way the schedule shakes out. My reference for this would be ole miss, who also had to play 7 straight games and botched going to the playoffs losing to a mid UF team. Hope I’m wrong

I’m at 9-3 right now:

Split ND UF SMU and Ville

Drop an oopsie game (most likely @ Pitt)

Can’t decide between:

Option 1: Believe all hype and get really excited and c0cky for the season.

Option 2: Reread 2024 July/August preseason hype articles like this and remind myself they should be taken with a grain of salt.

Leaning option 1.
Option 2 for me, 20 years of hype
And every forum is getting told the same thing. I think even Iowa thinks they have a national championship team

Its very possible. But every year we think schedule will be a cakewalk its harder than expected so I can see the opposite being true. ND & SMU should be tough. UF is only decent at best. Historically we show up vs Louisville, Syracuse lost quite a bit from last year team, and we avoid Clemson, Ga Tech, UNC.

You forgot Justin Flowe. And Ed Reed was a 2* recruit.
Biggest lie ever told was the Jeremiah Smith transfer. Biggest miss still for Mario which costed him and may cost him for two more years. Dude did an Al Golden Cook situation. Same sh different HC

**** nothing on DTs is scary
Why? I mean all they are doing right now is conditioning work correct? No pads...no contact really...so why would there be anything of substance on DT's? Honest question. Seems to me that there is nothing to report on for that position.

True. I just live to panic. But would’ve been nice to hear they move extremely well or something haha

It’s really laughable at this point… the request isn’t much is it?

Beat every team we should beat.

Be around 85% in toss ups

Be at least 50/50 when we’re not favored… for now.

If you don’t take care of the first one then the other two don’t matter much. We dog walk ND at home all to just lose to Pitt and then lose a bowl game to the likes of an Iowa St. then do we fly the banners or do we pacify ourselves with a list of hired guns and cross our fingers for next year…. Again.

You have to believe at some point the odds are we will have a young DT make the leap since they are going against an OL widely considered one of the best in college football.

One would think...

The nerds that used to get the **** beat out of them every week at the flag pole never seemed to get better at defending themselves…

David lake had a good breakdown today with Bud on their summer school series.

Said this is probably the most talented team he’s covered at Miami since he got here in 2007. I believe him. It’s not the best in the country but it’s probably one of the 10 best.

Also said the real barometer for a successful season is Charlotte, and I agree there too. We can discuss nuances of each game through the year, but to me the bottom line is if we get to Charlotte, you’re going to have a hard time convincing me it wasn’t a successful year. And if we don’t, you’ll have a hard time convincing me it was.

No worse than 3-1 in the non conference.
No worse than 2-1 against Louisville, SMU and FSU
No worse than 4-1 against Stanford, VT, Pitt, NC State, and Syracuse
