Recency bias is a real thing.Reggie Wayne and Ahmmon Richards would like to have a word with you
Ray Ray still shows up for the team hasnt been missing from sidelines or sportsbooks injured or not![]()
100%Recency bias is a real thing.
This is a close call. For this point in their respective freshman seasons, who would you rank these 3?
And we should probably throw in Irvin as well.

What no one has said yet, of course, is that the noise from some quarters about paying Jeremiah to come back here has quieted down because Canes fans are now realizing that Cristobal and Beard may have found an American Heritage kid who may match Smith's talent, if not his height and reach.Just gonna throw this out there...
If that play against FSU doesn't get called back because of an illegal procedure penalty (*):
*Malachi Toney freshman season through first 5 games: 29 receptions, 428 yards, 4 TD
Jeremiah Smith freshman season through first 5 games: 23 receptions, 453 yards, 6 TD
Malachi Toney: # 6 Notre Dame, BCU, #18 USF, UF, #18 FSU
Jeremiah Smith: Akron, Western Michigan, Marshall, Michigan State, Iowa
...Just saying.
For true comparison...Recency bias is a real thing.

We're just a few crappy defenses away from this not even being a discussion any more.
Thru G7...Toney plays as a true frosh and is on pace for 12 game regular season of 900 yds.
Irvin sat has a true Frosh in '84 and played RSF '85 in 11 games (10 reg, 1 Bowl) w/ 840 yds (extrapolated to 12 for 916 yds)
Richards played as true Frosh in '16 in 13 games (12 reg, 1 Bowl) w/ 934 yds (extrapolated to 12 for 870 yds)
Toney hits 850+ yds in regular season play and he belongs in the Irvin + Richards conversation.
By G10...Thru G7...
Toney is on pace for 963 yds thru G12
Don’t forget his passing yards!By G10...
Toney is on pace for 838 yds thru G12.
Far short of target.
Thru G11 has 844 yds...Thru G7...
