Ga Tech - Thoughts ?

GaTech barely beat BC - who was routed 49-0 by VT today.

Canes roll by 28.

Richt opens the playbook a bit more.

Bobby Dodd will be full of Canes. This is one of the few places Canes fans travel to come see the team play.

Don't wanna disrespect GT, but golden and dno didn't struggle much against them so I see a big W. Miami has 2 weeks to prepare for them after having faced a somewhat similar offense today coupled with richts experience against Tech from Georgia. I'll spot them two touchdowns cuz that's what they do but imo this one has potential to get ugly real quick.

Remember Sean Spence highlight against GT? I expect guys like Pinckney and McCloud to eat. It's pretty some. 1 guy has the qb and the other has the pitch. Kill them both. Donofrio didn't want the D to play like that.

Here's my assessment as a GT alum -

Don't count the BC game....1st game of the season in the rain overseas in Ireland. Hard to assess that. Vandy is a better game to observe from today.

GT Offense clicked today because 1) Vandy is terrible, 2) Justin Thomas made better decisions with the ball than he had most of last season. The OL is a little weaker, but is improving from last year and cut blocking as always. The young LBs may struggle a little and give up some chunk yardage on toss sweeps, but the DTs will be stout against the dive which is really the key to stopping the triple option.

Ted Roof's defense has a few playmakers and is fairly aggressive/blitzes regularly. They still struggle if you spread them out and I believe Njoku will be a huge mismatch for them whether in the seam or moving him around.

GaTech is nowhere near as bad as last year - possibly an 8 win team this season.

That being said, Miami wins 34 - 17. Expecting a large contingent of UM fans as always at Bobby Dodd stadium. Tech fans are quiet and scared of non-engineers.

2 weeks to prepare will help. I think we handle them pretty easily.

Do you think we're going to spend 2 weeks reviewing GT?
I think the coaches will spend the two weeks on fsu and gt for sure .

I think they'll have the players spend the entire two weeks on gt. Richt is smart and won't have them looking ahead

They're not going to spend 2 weeks on GT. That makes no sense.

They (players and coaches) will probably review FSU during the off-week. That game is incredibly important and they all know it. GT doesn't require 2 weeks of practice; that would be tremendous;y stupid to purely focus on GT for the next 2 weeks.

This game was a good warm up to get the young lbs use to the misdirection when it comes to option offenses. I wouldn't be surprised if our veteran LBs started against GT, that have experience defending the triple option. But regardless I expect us to win by multiple TDs.

Who are these veteran linebackers you mention?

We are a horrible match up for them.
Defensively they like to give huge cushion to the receivers and hope their DL or a blitz can get to the QB. Problem is their DL or blitz can't get to the QB because they all suck. We will throw bubble screens for 10 yards all day against them. It will look like the second drive against App. State.
Offensively their OL isn't very good. I expect our tackles to crash the interior, destroying the dive, forcing early pitches/bad spacing between between the QB and pitch man, and herding everything to our LBs and safeties that are flowing to the outside to clean up.

This is the defensive performance I expect from our DL. ND's DL just continuously shoots the gaps all game, just as we like to do, blowing up everything in the backfield. This destroyed the dive, and forced everything to the outside and forced a lot of early pitches. ND's back 7 just just naturally flowed to the outside all game because they knew the tackles were forcing everything that way, and they cleaned up those early pitches.
