When ever I look at these lists I always have to remind myself that these are put together by writers. They have to include a lot of areas. Can't have too much of one team unless that team has a writers favorite coach (See Nebraska, Osborne, Tom). I think some of these college writers watched too much NFL before deciding on this list. Some great names on here and some great guys got left off.

I see some of these guys as a representation of a position group at that school. Only way to see it when Ed Reed makes it but Blades and Sean Taylor do not.

Biggest surprise is a guy named Derek Abney makes the returner list but no Devin Hester? That right there tells you the writers got to keep the SEC happy or this list is not relevant to the regular old school fan base of college football.

This obviously has more to do with NFL than college is Calvin Johnson and Troy Polamalu showing up.

Even though I am Cane fan I am glad Ray Lewis is not on this list. He is a fist ballot HOF for the NFL but did not do that in college.

Most Disappointed on Dan Morgan not making this list. Most decorated and deserving defensive player Miami has ever had.

Frazier and Tebow are a representative of the great college offensive systems. Don't know how you have both on though. I know writers love them but how do you not get Ty Detmer to represent BYU QB's and the first college of the 80's to get the open west coast forward pass offenses multiple sets TE's and all.

Hudson represents all the great BYU TE's I guess. Not going to expect college football writers to put in a Miami TE

Happiest to see and most surprised to make this list is Will Shields. The guy was flat out amazing pre national championship Nebraska teams. The only guy who could really block any Maimi or FSU players in the late 80's early 90's. His measurements would get him a 3 star but the guy was so fast and so deceptively strong and tech was perfect.

Bo Jackson was great but can you believe there not one USC RB on here? OJ, yea not going to touch him. Reggie Bush, again writers not going to touch him either. But to not have Marcus Allen on? Really? College production and relevance and Bo makes it over Allen? Only because of the dual sports after college got him on this list. Oh yea SEC SEC SEC.

Hard to believe Desmond Howard doesn't make it as a RS.

That's the kind of list that basically impossible to make, though. You'd need to pick an all-time list for 2 or 3 different schemes

Pretty inarguable that Tebow, Moss and Champ were all time great college players. Moss probably the best college receiver I will ever see. Derek Abney is a ******* joke.

I would question Calvin Johnson being on that more than Randy Moss. He's obviously a freak of an athlete but hardly one of the best collegiate receivers of all time. The other one that stood out to me as well was Kuechly over somebody like Dan Morgan and numerous other linebackers...Bozworth, Derrick Brooks, Ray Lewis, etc...

What about Michael vick>>Tebow

Vick was not that good of a college QB. His only decent years ever as an actual qb were in philly. Vince Young had one good year. I don't want to defend Tebow, because I can't stand the guy. He's a gator and he's not a qb. He's a player who gets far more credit than he deserves and succeeds when he has all time great defenses. He gets wholly undeserved second chances in the pros due to his fan base and "good character."

With all of that said, his numbers in college were solid, even if it was a product of the college system and stud players around him.

I also agree with the others though that this list is trash. Calvin Johnson did nothing in college. Jason Sehorn on college football daily was ripping this list. Randy Moss, as great as he is, played at Marshall against poor competition. One of the writers specifically said they tried to keep pro careers out of it, but it's obvious when you look at the list, that it is not true. No canes TE's? No Sean Taylor, or Dan Morgan?

Rickey Williams over Bo and Marcus Allen over Tony Dorsett. Don't like Archie Griffen but with 2 Heismans the writers we not going to overlook that. But heck Ron Dayne and Mike Rozier had better careers. But the RB's were pretty well put together and a case could be made for all. But no Eric ****erson? Ok I got to stop. At least they did not put Eddie George or Jerome Bettis on the list.

Luke Kuechly was a 3 time 1st team all-american and if im not mistaken led the nation in tackles twice. I believe he also won every major college defensive award. his resume is as good as any, including our great Dan Morgan. Sean Taylor was robbed of the Thorpe award and should no doubt be on this list. Taylor quite frankly is a top 5 athlete i have ever seen in person. his football instincts to go with his athletic prowess was just insane. to have Ed Reed than Sean Taylor........we were blessed as fans
